[Spoilers] Vescavor choice
The vescavor swarm sacrifice, various sites copy pasted each other. They say that if normally if you pick the "fight" option whoever you chose will die, but there are exceptions. The alternative ensures safety but sacrifices troops.

My question is... who is (are?) the ones that can survive if you send them head on toward the enemy?
(I bet it's regill and the historian halfling)

There are 5 points where you can lose troops/morale. Four loot piles and saving the halfling. Loot isn't really remarkable, though. Also, I went with Sosiel, looted once and saved the halfling and still took losses, so I'm not sure on the whole "Sosiel prevents some losses" point.

I believe it's the reaction that your officers/Galfrey to how much looting you've done/can do.

I.e. if you pick a "good" combo of leader and strat (like Sosiel with the stand your ground) you can still interact with a point or two and at the end get a "Good thing you rushed right to the queen and killed her before things went pear-shaped" where if you picked the wrong character/strat or looted beyond that you'll get a "WTAF THEY WERE ALL EATEN ALIVE JUST SO YOU COULD HAVE MORE SHINIES!?" reaction, which on top of morale, affects how Queen Galfrey judges your march, which is important if you're trying to romance her, or at least get that sweet +4 Ring of Protection she gives you for doing well.

Off-topic but have walkthrough sites always copy-pasted each other like this and I didn't notice or is this a more recent phenomenon. WotR still doesn't have a comprehensive well-made guide, and I'm starting to think it's because the only actual person who apparently writes guides isn't available for all other sites to copy them.

If you make a good choice on the distraction mission, you can get away with looting all the unique items and also saving the halfling, Just dont loot the pile that has the shortspear as its nothing special anyway. This way you can still get all the good stuff and not get reprimanded later on.

I think some of those 'walkthrough' sites are just generated by bots that steal content. I always go to Wikis these days.

What's the good choice on the distraction mission?
I just did the whole thing again, I picked sosiel and had him confront head on the bees, I picked up nothing at all but helped the halfling and I still got a -5 morale (weird thing is I know I could pick at least 1 item without getting the penalty, so the halfling is a bigger penalty that 1-2 loot).

what your looking for is the comment at the end.
If the comment say loses are minimal then your good.

Sosiel - stand ground and heal
Regil - send a distraction troop and throw acid
Lann - do the zig zag tactic

Youll still take morale hits looting stuff but it doesnt matter in the long run.
