Any proper build for mounted combat?
Tbh I want to try it out... but not giving size bonuses to either the fighter or the mount to me it seems that they loose too much combat ability. since large mounts are off, and you can only ride things 1 size category different any good ideas on how to make it work without making something so weak I ll get bored of it half way?

Gnomes and halfing can ride smaller mount (they are "small" size by default). There is also a cavalier halfling unique class^^ Sadly, having a mount that can only be mounted by small creature can't be used for "continuation" of leveling by other class (like Sohei). For example, the leopard. You can ride it as a halfling, but you can't level it up through Sohei because it's considered a pet and not a mount.

Anyway, a few tips.
-Sohei (monk) have full pet leveling, monk stuff, 1 ( 2 at 11) attack bonus for free if you have weapon training. It's a very solid 1level dip for any mounted character. Quite frankly, Sohei 1 is an amazing dip for most mounted character (full progression, extra feat, free improved unarmed for crane style, possibly 1 extra attack, wisdom for AC, free feat)
-Divine hunter 3 (hunter) gives a unique buff to the mount that make it more tanky, but mostly for "good" aligned character
-Divine hound have full pet progression, and share it's teamwork feats between pet and MC (at level 3). So you can have outflank, seize the moment.... with your pet (no need for companions). It's quite useful considering the class gives lots of free maneuvers feat, and you an't possibly have them all on your companions. Also, free you at least one perk on your pet (outflank) since you get it for free from the MC.
-Oracle can give you a pet through the "animal" mystery (or is it nature ?)
-Divine class can have a pet through the nature domain. If your god don't have it, you can pick "impossible domain" as a mythic for it.
-Dog and wolves are considered the most meta (with bully to double on it). They use a free trip attack, and it has a very high DC. Especially with fury tail and so on. They can't be mounted early (unless gnome/halfling), but only at lvl 7 though.
-Boon companion feat, obviously
-Mythic beast feat, obviously
-Mounted combat feat is good, need mobility
-Remember that you can get a "unique" pet like a wolf, and continue the progression through another class that doesn't have it normally (like sohei)
-Cavalier get you bonus on charge. But cavalier is kinda meh as a class, overall. The halfling one is OK though
-There is a 2h spear (longspear) with big bonus on a charge to. You can do a charge guy with all that.
-Your mount can use crane style (insert kung fu panda gif there), but their attacks are not considered "unarmed". Sadly.

Right now, I'm using a halfling divine hound with a wolf, and the wolf trips stuff all the time. It's also relatively tanky, and my MC is super tanky (halfling +3ac feat, size +1 ac, dodge, crane, archmage armor, wisdom for AC....).
Also does good damage.
Lots of fun.

Thank you for the post.
boon companion was nerfed so you cannot continue progression anymore with classes that do not have pets.... Unfortunately you can only get the feat once.

It was always true AFAIK ? It gives you 4 level on your mount, and that's it. You need to use a pet class for progression anyway. But it allow you to do 4level in a non pet class for dipping for "free".

If you want a pet that is viable, you'll have to commit anyway. You'll need pet progression class. Thankfully, there are a LOT of them, and the only one which is missing IMO is a sneak attack+pet. But you have divine scion for that I guess.

Thanks I completely forgot about the saving throws... (another problem of the fighting duo every spell like eg a web can capture both the rider and the mount needing 2 saves to disable both... ) I guess that is fine after level 9 though when i can cast freedom of movement on both.

Freedom of movement. 10m/level is good. Druids/hunter can cast it, and divine to. You have plenty of divine/hunter/druids pet classes.
Or just use a scroll/companions/potions^^

There is also a freedom of movement boot rather early in the game.
