How do I buy mercenaries for Crusade Mode?

I see hellknights and clerics listed, and it seems like I should be able to buy them but I cannot. Am I missing a prompt or do I have to wait? Any help is appreciated!

This topic looks dead, but since the question hasn't been answered, I'll leave my suggestion for somebody who might need it later.
With mercs it can be less obvious than with regular units that you don't have enough finance points to buy them: the unit appears buyable, you click and nothing happens. So if there's a problem, check your funds.

Mercs are hired for a fix price in a fixed amount. If you can't afford them at once, you first must get enough money. (normal soldires are recruited solder-for solder, not at once.)

I you hired a slot, this is locked until reset, ieven if you use the search.

Also check that your army is not full as you can't recruit into a full army. A leaderless army can only have a maximum of 3 units.
