So wrong PnP. I think in 1e Quarterstaves were never Finess weapons.
That's essentially what Regill did for his gnome hammer.
And yes, you NEED to be warrior 6. Taking weapon training elsewhere (like sohei), then dipping warrior 1 will not work. Which is ironic considering a warrior 6 can dip sohei 1 and get all the advantages of a sohei 6. Yes, a mutation warrior 6+1sohei is a better sohei than sohei 7. Unless you really want that horse.
And even taking loremaster to try to "cheese" it will not work. You can get the perk "fighter finesse", but it's not working.
Honestly, I don't know your build, but dex for melee is an easy trap. You need 2 perks to do both attack and damage, while strength need no perks at all for that.
Isn't it possible to simply have your monk go strength ?
Dex for melee requires more planing, but it's definitely not a trap. You get to pump 1 stat for damage, attack, and ac. If you use a weapon like the dueling sword you can even get 2H power attack damage, just need to either have 13 str or take a couple levels of ranger/slayer. You can also use slashing grace instead of a mythic feat for damage. Of course the staff in question needs a lot more planning
This is doubly true because a lot of newcomers tend to be unaware that finesse does NOT change how damage is calculated, only attack.
You need a minimum of 2 feats, 3+ possibly mythic if you go fighter finesse, just to have the weapon behave as if you had strength.
While it may works, and some weapon works well for it, for others it's just pointless feats that could have been better used elsewhere.
There are a lot of weapons that works well for dex build, but there are a lot of weapons that suffer if you try to make a dex build with them.
Dueling sword is THE poster child for dex build, with a subclass and a prestige class all built around it. So yes, obviously that one is fine.
