Demon vs Devil path

So I'm planning out an "evil" playthrough, and debating between these two.

and I was wondering, narratively, what's the major difference between the two?

I know a devil is basically a bureaucrat/lawyer of hell, and a demon is a physical representation of sin.

I would forget about doing the devil path unless you also wanna do an Aeon path in the process. You don't get Devil till mythic rank 8 and only in the Aeon or Azata path (and only if you make certain choices during those paths.)

Unfortunately that's right, Devil comes so late into the game that it's arguable if it's even worth the playthrough. If you want a more cohesive "Evil" run, I'd recommend Demon or even Lich first. A Devil run is basically an Aeon/Azata run for the first 80% of it.

Devil feels much more evil from my point of view and playthrough experience. But that is because of what was already mentioned already. You start with Azata/Aeon and basically becomes a betrayer while demon is more straightforward with the story.

Though that is probably how I would sum it up. Betrayer vs. Chaotic Rage type of story.

Haven’t done demon, doing devil. Narratively it’s a mess I find. Unless you wanna roleplay an Aeon who ‘falls’?

Simply put: if you start with an evil guy that wants to be a devil the Aeon bit seems out of place.

Azata even more so. Who'd go from chaotic good to lawful evil? Bizarre.

I haven't tried Devil yet, but have done Demon. It seems like Devil would be more mustache twirling evil and Demon is more murder hobo evil.

Would be if I had the options. As it is most [Evil] options are:

- Hang them!
- You look like crap!*
- I hate you! Die!
- [Insert random stupidity you’d never do like unleashing the Uber Evil power of Zachs wand with zero support info.]

A few good options in Drezen management where taking an evil action actually profits you but generally just evil for the sake of evil.

Not me. I don’t start out a game thinking like that and if I’d started Azata no way I’d have dived into Devil

Maybe we should submit suggestions to make the devil more tempting and interesting for Azata. Something like : instead of one dragon friend you get three dragon friends!

Or an offer of the devil to turn Aivu romancable in humanoid form. Okay. That might work. Maybe.

I have an idea for how we make Devil more tempting in general.

Offer to kill annoying good dragons and distill a +6 attribute potion from their remains? :)

Why not? It seems true enough to me that the devil is lacking in being tempting. ^^
So yeah, I am going to submit a suggestion ingame. I doubt the developers will change anything core mechanic wise, but maybe it gets into an enhanced edition...

I have to admit though: since Kingmaker I consider normal edition of Pathfinder by Owlcat always some sort of early access with the enhanced as actual how the game is supposed to be edition... but that is a different story. x_x

Jokes aside. It’s not about gifts it’s that the Devils story isn’t well done and flowing. Up to this point I find evil needs serious improvement.

I dunno about that, I had a lot of fun with my Lich and Demon. All the "(Evil) I don't like your face! (Attack)" options aside, you can do some pretty fun stuff with an evil character.
