Pathfinder 1E has an ancient crashed starship, androids, a planet inhabited solely by robots (which can be visited by the inhabitans of Golarion), laser weapons, etc, but someone using primitive black powder weapons would be too much?
Just Because some regions have guns doesnt mean they have to be everywhere. There is a reason why there are many moduls that dont include said starships, androids, laser weapons etc.
All the Mythic Paths are totally different, the only one in this game that's in the TT is Trickster, and even that is fairly different. They aren't gimmicks though. They make major changes to the story, and gameplay.
Some people would like to play THIS game with guns.
See, that would be a fine answer but if we would let the "neighbouring country" thing count as a reason that would mean that every region that is ever connected to Lets say region 1 that uses advanced tech should also have advanced tech,,, then the regions that are connected to the regions that a connected with region 1 should also have advanced tech and so on and so on..until we got Lasers and starships everywhere.
At the end of the day though it’s Owlcat’s game and they’ve already (half)implemented a metric ton of classes and archetypes so I can see why they’re not interested in adding a more esoteric class that would require creating new weapon types (I still want to see slings!) Maybe as a DLC later, or if modding becomes easier some intrepid fans can add the class and make the 3D models required. If anyone’s played the class mods for Kingmaker you already know how well integrated these unofficial addons can be.
Agreed on both points. It would be pretty smart to bring a handful of flintlock regiments at the very least, in my opinion.
That said, yeah, it's Owlcat's game at the end of the day, and while I disagree with their decision I respect that it was made with both mechanical and story justifications and I accept it. I just. *Really* hope a modder comes along to change it, because deep down I really just. Want to play the Doomguy in Mendev.
'High Medieval Fantasy'
May I introduce you to the Following Medieval firearms of our own world:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arquebus
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hand_cannon
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Musket
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Culverin
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pot-de-fer
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heilongjiang_hand_cannon
And that isn't even going into the early flamethrowers and other weapons we developed to brutally murder each other! Now, The Scifi Elements of the Silver Mount are not really anything to worry about as the Androids don't _really_ want to leave the connection to their home, and the Technic League out right refuses to let anything Technologically advanced leave. That isn't to say it doesn't- We wouldn't have Numerian Steel otherwise. Aka the Star Metal Adamantine. To say firearms aren't setting appropriate shows a fundamental ignorance to what is 'Medieval.' An ignorance that has been, admittedly, fostered when faced with the idea of Magic. But Magic does not mean firearms have no place in a fantastic Medieval aged world.
Oh, and Wrath of the Righteous will have dinosaur mounts so... yeah, this world isn't 100% traditional fantasy :D
