Finnean Chapter 5 (Spoilers!)
Is Finnean meant to turn into a normal weapon? Whatever dialogue options I pick, the bladesmith turns him into a regular rapier. I picked the chaotic option, that makes him want to stay alive. In my last playthrough, this did not happen, though I never got that encounter in Chapter 3 that upgrades him. *confused*

To make matters worse ... picking the evil option gives you a ton of weapons, as opposed to just a non-talking, boring Finnean.

LOL. Just realised my post is badly written. I meant to say: I picked the chaotic option, then tried every other option, and it always leads to the same result, except if I hand him over.

IIRC there's a persuasion check to convince Finnean to stay alive. If he still turned into a regular weapon despite having passed that, sounds like the quest got bugged. Because you need to pick the "Break the skull" option for that to happen, since... well... Finnean lacks the means to off himself.

Mine kept his Finnean things and got upgraded after I picked the same option you mentioned.

Okay. You have to pick to very non-intuitive good option. Was sure I didn't last time, but I guess I did. *wipes sweat from brow* LOL

Well, according to Winger and my previous playthrough, the chaotic option (to convince him to stay alive) was the right one. But in this instance, I had to choose to destroy his skull to set him free (good option), which caused him to decide he wanted to stay alive after all. :steamfacepalm: Now I'm stuck with him as a longsword, which is useless. Basically, it's a longsword called Finnean you cannot talk to anymore. LOL.

Good grief. *sigh* Turns out the unnamed rapier you get from the chaotic option is actually Finnean and you can still talk to him. The good options gives you a longsword called Finnean, but you cannot talk to him. Bug or feature? Who knows.

Also - this option leaves it equipped, whereas the good option disarms you.

Soooo... there was no check. I broke the skull he left. My main DPS has no weapon.

I'm so confused. If I turn him into another weapon, it's called Finnean, but if I switch it back to the rapier, it's still just called brilliant energy rapier :steamhappy:
