are you doing a charge?
a full attack?
do you use a reach weapon?
are you moving alot?
so many questions
also the biggest advantage of mounted combat is easy positioning for teamfeats, flanking, sneak attacks and depending on your build AC from animal companion for rider
Turn-based it seems to be a whole other story - which seems to be true for the whole mode as it isn't made for the game but just an attachement. (I personally only use it to cheese through some boss fights as it is far easier then RTwP for some enemies)
If you are using a reach weapon (such as a halbard -- unlikely with Seelah, as you are probably using a long sword, which isn't a reach weapon), and move to the enemy normally (that is, you don't charge), then the issue is that your mount is out of range to attack. In this case, your mount won't attack even if you use the full attack action (that is, you don't move before attacking). You can use the "5 foot step" (hold down shift and left click closer to the enemy) to get close enough to have your mount attack without forgoing the full attack action that round.
Other than that... Well, mounted combat isn't all that reliable. In lots of situations, its better to forgo mounting and allow the companion to attack as an independent unit. Setting aside all the bugs you avoid, this also avoid the problem of being knocked prone when your mount runs out of hit points, which can be very deadly when it occurs at the wrong time.
