Level 27 Treant vs 10 heroes, seriously?
In the village under a certain influence (the one with Lady of the Sun demoness) I had no real problems but then my team went up some cliff and... level 27 treant. Even my seriously buffed animal tanks could not stand against it, most spells just fizz out (resistance + saves), AC value is insanely high, I had hexes, lotsa summons, haste, multiple prayers (bless, prayer etc.).

Why does Owlcat put intentionally impossible-to-beat encounters on maps that otherwise face enemies maximum ~5-8 levels above your group? I mean, seriously? +17 levels, how am I to beat that at this point of time?

I beat the "normal" boss on the map (village chief with his drake) without serious issues but this thing just wiped me 5 times before I gave up.

Is there some TRICK or is this actually meant to be a 'come back later' encounter?

I don't recall him being that hard. The normal boss of that place was a lot more annoying with all the ranged axes. Use fire damage I think?

I dunno, by that time i had plenty of spell penetration to smack the treants with fire spells.
I always take spell penetration first to my casters.

Yep. Fire spells do the difference.

The tree is like the water elemental in the starter dungeon. Its an optional fight outside of your weight class meant to challenge you. You can come back later to deal with it. And you'll probably have to come back later anyway to deal with the crazy half-elf nearby.

I did beat it, but it took a few tries. I'd reccomend throwing something down to stop its mobility (I used web) otherwise it just crushes your party standing on that bridge by running through them all.

I don't remember the rewards being worth the trouble. Much like that Water Elemental.

There are multiple of these in the area. I lowered enemy difficulty to weakest to get past that entire area, as it was not doable as level 10 party.

The normal boss fight was fun for me. I had Wendy with me also specced for double throwing axes and they both faced off throwing so many at each other it looked like they were doing a circus juggling act. Catching their axes and throwing them back. It was kinda great.

Both boss and crazy half-elf were totally fine. The other treants that roam the area are like level 12 or so, no problem.
But this one is 27 and impossible.
Oh and there's ghosts there level 25 or so, manageable if they are solo but once specific ghost can summon shirocco (damage+stun tornado) and stun the whole group infinitely, that one's also impossible, particularly because it's a scripted fight, pops up and you are immediately in combat with no preparation.

Not sure what the intent is with this grossly varying difficulty. Boss was totally fine, managed to kill Lann 2 times but that was it. 2 strong animal companions + Seelah had him cornered, also Ancestral summons. The drake was actually much harder because very high AC and saves, fortunately all it could do was ice (protection element = 0 damage) and claw attacks.

But the treant and shirocco ghost...? No way José. Not at level 10 :(

I didn't have much of an issue with any of the treants in that zone, I had Ember with me blasting them down extremely well even with a couple failed SR checks due to bad rolls. Seelah stood in front pretty well and was kept healed via lay on hands and Daeran

You're seriously overusing the word impossible. All of those fights are doable in Act 3, though you might need a different party/buff setup. They're also all optional, so you can just not do them if you can't manage.

Wintersun? It's only gets more ridiculous as quest progress, I can assure you.
Those stupid trees are nothing, if you get a head a little you will see.

the ghost only attacks you if you steal its treasure

It isn't redicoulous it's an optional fight , you can just skip it , just because a map has enemies doesn't mean you have to kill everything on it !!

Every tiny bits of EXP is a step closer to hit those 50+ AC.

How dare a large and varied map have encounters that make players adjust their cookie cutter strategies :/

A lot of those big fights are optional, and teach you about improving your builds, using your items and changing your tactics. The 27 HD Tree is tough, but it isnt even one of the big optional bosses like Playful Darkness. While I too, had to reload once or twice, remember- every creature has weaknesses.

For example, Playful Darkness reminded me that I needed to get Greater Dispel ASAP, that fight would have been a lot easier had I dispelled his buffs.Everything has a counter. One big thing to remember is that a creature full attacking typically cant move. (Unless it has pounce.) So, at higher levels, you COULD technically tie a powerful creature immobile by just drowning it in summons.

However, that doesnt work againts the tree because it just tramples every round. See how the game forces you to change stuff up?
