Not sure on mammoths but it does say when picking a companion what special attacks they get.
Weird, eh? Anyone know what it does on an AC that certainly does not have bite?
I really regret taking mammoth now, it reads as if wolf/dog with natural trip could do it as fast action when biting and attack in the same turn. That'd be SO awesome.
You can easily respec and get another pet, it's free, talk to Hildor :)
Trip as a combat maneuver is where you attempt a trip instead of doing a regular attack. This is the ability granted by Improved Trip feat. From what I understand, this is what Bully gives, and this does NOT give them a free trip while attacking
Trip as an animal ability is generally associated with one of their natural attacks. A few animals like wolf and leopard have this ability. In those cases, a trip attempt is made automatically as a free action whenever you hit with that particular attack.
As for why the mammoth has the ability, could it be from equipment. Maybe he's wearing something that grants the trip ability for a creature's bite attack. Which would have no effect on Mammoth since it has no bite attack.
That or it could be a bug, but doublecheck your equipment first.
