You can set it to auto-mode. It will not be turned off, but you do not have to bother with it again. Keep in mind there are drawbacks.
Thanks!
Not that I know of. But since you let the crusade management being managed by the automatic, you do not get in touch with it. Ergo, research projects and such which might get you certain items or endings are locked out.
This has a list.
Not sure if it all of them but they list out stuff.
You are at the mercy of the AI in auto mode as well.
If you are to good you will have to wait until the AI takes forts for you to advance.
You miss out on certain relics that can be made into gear for your party.
You also miss out on the Swarm Mythic Path as well as it requires decrees to be done, and they can only be done in Crusade Mode.
Also Lich Path may take longer as it requires a building to be built, HOWEVER the AI Does eventually do it, you're just at the mercy of RNG as to WHEN it does it, could be in a day, could be a week, could be a month.
Other than those, you don't miss anything that would affect your gameplay. There are a few interesting tidbits of fluff in it like the Council Meetings that you'd miss, but they won't affect you or your party in terms of gameplay.
Also, Crusade Mode lets you build up settlements, which can be upgraded to build Teleportation Circles in them, reducing the amount of time you spend traveling all over the Map as you can just teleport your party to a fort close to where you want to go. The AI Does NOT build them in Auto Mode.
If you want to try and do Crusade Mode, set the management difficulty to story, and try to grab a good mage general for your army ASAP. A Mage General can basically destroy armies nearly by himself when leveled up and with proper spells. Also, build Doomstacks, using multiple armies is not efficient.
If you REALLY wanna go easy on Crusade Mode, go Lich. Lich Path lets you get free skeletons and zombies for every couple of units you kill in Crusade Mode, so you can start racking up quite an army pretty fast. Only downside is that you have a harder time getting living soldiers to fight for you as they don't like fighting shoulder-to-shoulder with zombies.
it's mostly just "a story demon army is approaching, destroy it before it reaches Drezen" which give you no rewards
There is a mod I will look into using called Combat Relief, that skips the crusade battles and always gives you a win for them. As it is, all my current play throughs (I'm an altaholic) are probably going to get tossed because I have a very hard time getting around the map in Act 3 because of the stupid abyssal corruption mechanic.
