I do not know which statue the other refers, but I know of the statue as an summoning item which can cast a Bismuth for 24 hours, provided you keep the statue in the inventory.
Want to get rid of it? Remove the statue.
The downside is that you then have a ridiculous looking dinosaur running around on your screen the entire time. You want to maximize your gameplan? Well buckle up, we're Dino Riders now.
Next game we'll get an equippable giant pet snail named "Jeff", that constantly speaks in a high squeaky voice, and supplies hilarious fourth wall breaking meta-commentary. But he gives you a lot of bonuses, so you're at a disadvantage if you don't use him. Don't worry, you'll come to love Jeff eventually.
Once you have done that, Bismuth will remain in your party until the figurine is removed from the belt of the character that activated it.
In other words, if you want Bismuth to leave your party, just unequip the figurine.
After doing so you can re-equip the figurine, either for the same character or a different one. You won't be able to activate the figurine twice in one day, so keep that in mind when deciding to unequip it; you will have to rest before you can bring Bismuth back.
-------------
One other thought: Because of its very high strength, having Bismuth in your party dramatically increases your carrying capacity. So even if you don't care to use Bismuth actively, you may find it useful for the sake of being able to loot a lot of treasure and still be able to travel.
The description on statue explained why they made a summonable dinosaur, seemed fine lore wise to me.
Disclaimer: I have no pathfinder lore experience except Kingmaker PC game.
