Depends on the demon and what buffs they are using. In general demons have
Immunity to electricity and poison
Resistance to acid 10, cold 10, and fire 10
Best to meet them with holy and good alignment stuff. Some law spells might do wonder as well. Ergo: divine spells.
I've got a brown fur transmuter that uses almost nothing but variously metamagiked battering blasts.
*this
Ember with ascending fire/electrity (electricity because she wore a unique gauntles which granted electricity spells to spontaneous casters) has killed so many demons.
Scorching ray first, then Scorching Ray maximized/empowered, Hellfire ray, Fire Snake, Chain Lightning.
I also picked "sorcerer reflex" (something like that, a Mythic feat) that grants two casts on the first round: hellfire ray plus scorching ray and I always killed somebody.
Yeah: IF you beat their saving throws. And that sucks because they always succede (at least on core difficulty settings).
I had a DC 33 and they had +50 on saving throws. Not fair.
On Solasta (god bless 5e) I liked banish elementals (even if it was bugged); in WotR I don't even try - I don't even prepare the spell.
Sonic is king and earth/stone is queen. Sonic spells, while rare, often have nasty rider effects that demons are not immune to, and they lack any inherent resistance to sonic damage. Sound burst can stun multiple demons in one cast, and there are VERY powerful sonic spells that completely disregard SR. Likewise, most demons have relatively standard movement and thus fall prey to spells that create difficult terrain, and most terrain manipulating spells disregard spell resistance. Prone demons are dead demons, your sword just hasn't caught up with them yet.
Demons pretty reliably get destroyed by *anything* that can zone them out of melee. With a single exception, demons are pretty universally melee beatdowns. Abyssal Huntresses have bows, but Demons generally do not prepare offensive spells (One VERY annoying exception being Prophets of Baphomet). As such, your tactic should often be to control space. Tools like Create Pit and Entangle (Aka, earth spells) absolutely mess them up as they slowly waddle up to your firing squad.
Demons lack resistance to being tripped, feared and generally controlled. Even simple martial tools like Dazzling Display can ruin their day if applied properly. Animal companions can take them to the mat pretty easily as some (Get a leopard) have trip on hit, while others (No, seriously, leopard stronk) have pounce, allowing them to full attack off a charge. Prone demons can't spam attacks. Prone demons take hits standing up. Prone demons are dead demons.
