Report a translation problem
As LArc7thHeaven said, it will open later on as part of a follow up quest. There is a good method to see it coming, by checking the journal. The quest should be either marked as done or at least without a red hourglass marker. All those without any markers are usually done later on.
In your case, if I recall it correctly, the archelogist asked you to leave him alone while he try to figure out to open it, which probably takes him around 6 months+
