I have played this many parts and i´m wondering is that thing important? I mean i know it open my chest wound but it looks like small hit about story. But just asking is it super important thing what to leave later on to touch or something you need to touch instantly.

I passed a 45+ perception check on this thing along with a 40+ Arcane check it appears to be an empty vessel or container I'm not sure if I had to pass another check or not but it seems the moment you interact with it, It always just seems to crumble.

i might be wrong but is it not the thing for the lich path your "master" wants you to get?

it crumbled on my good run, but pretty sure i got it on my lich run.

The fact that it is meant to contain a soul makes me think it will eventually be used to make your phylactery on the Lich path.
