Just a small Councillor Woljif rant
Woljif is on my council. WHY IS HE THERE AND WHY CAN'T I TELL HIM TO LEAVE? I keep him in my party because he's a criminal and I'm a cop and I'm overseeing his me-appointed-community-service. I most certainly don't need his horrible advice. Every single idea of his is 100% off. I stop reading after the 1st line now...

I'm playing a LG religious Regill-type. The other's even Arue are ok. But Woljif is so incredibly out of place he spoils my immersion.

Anyway... will report and move on but I needed a short rant. I prefer picking my councillors like in KM.

Have him there as moral guidance of what not to do, plus if he is in the council doing busy work then he is not outside causing trouble.

Next to you is the best place for him.

he has insight into the criminal underworld around the area, so its something
but i also would prefer to pick my councillors like in kingmaker

This is the best if-you-cant-change-it-justify-it line ever!

I most certainly will take this approach!

Sure but all his suggestions are really bad from an LG point of view. I wish we could at least fire them if we wanted. Like decide who of the 4-5 guys we want there and who we dont.

I am curious, how bad is his advice? It's strange that all of the advice you get in this game is pure garbage (for example a highly experienced and well read commander leading your military council telling you to throw wave after wave of naked guys with kitchen knives at the demons because that will somehow end well.)

(I must say, I ask as I completely forgot he even existed after he ran away during the gargoyle fight.)

Woljiff's suggestions are among the best and advisers generally shouldn't just be there to be yes men - what would be the point in them? Plus, you can just not take his advice. I don't even read the pages of stuff they have to say - I pick the most useful one as I don't want to cripple myself with legions of shield bearers or whatever rubbish they come up with. If it bothers you that much, tell him to leave the party.

Some of his decisions actually are very good

Role play wise I can absolutely understand the rant. Despite many of his advices are good, it does not mean I would take them - especially when being lawful good.

Though, role play wise it can be also asked, why keeping and recruiting him as lawful good...

It was a stretch, best I got though.

I did use this when looking after small members of my family, give the little trouble maker some busy work and tell them how much they are helping me.

He has good insights into the repercussions of the actions of other council members - how things are percieved in the underworld or the people on the street. My paladin certainly won't follow his advice, but still takes his insights into consieration...

@Eh I don't want yes men but there's that and there's doesn't fit AT ALL. It's like an open minded Darth Vader having Gandhi on his council. Sure I welcome different opinions but there's a limit.

@Wraith Noooooooo! Ohhhhh noooo!

Cause I'm playing a cop who believes criminals should be put to work not fed by the state. I have not used his 'connection' store and I have pointed out repeatedly that there will be hell to pay if he steps out of line :)

Well role play wise you could also just say you want to know what he has to say while never taking the suggestions. Especially good characters in this game, even if they are lawful, can be argued to realistically at least put on a show of listening to those they disagree with. Kind of like those types in real life who pretend to listen to people whose opinions they have zero interest in while sagely nodding, only to then say thanks but no thanks.

Exactly, only i don't have to be a paladin to not take him back. He is a coward. I despise cowards. No place for cowards in my team.

If you're playing a cop, won't you want to have insight into the underworld? Consider him to be an informant. Failing that, leaving him with the cultists doesn't equate him living off the state, though I don't actually know what happens to him if you do that.

I guess there you go. As stated by Rivga then and EH!, you make use of his connections and insight and keep him away from trouble that way. Somewhat like the saying keeping your friends close and your enemies closer?
