Energy vulnerability didn't do anything?
I put a vulnerability curse on a spectre, and then hit it with a maximized fireball (7d6=42). However it did the same amount of damage to that spectre as another spectre that didn't have vulnerability curse on it (21 after they both failed reflex save, reduced from 42 due to incorporeality of spectres). I'm wondering why the one with energy vulnerability didn't take 50% more damage.

The vuln curse removes immunity and resistances.

If you want extra damage Shamans with Flame spirit has a hex that increases flame damage taken by 50%.

So vulnerability curse doesn't cause energy vulnerability? The description for it is very misleading then, because it says the ability "can make enemies vulnerable to energy" and if you hover cursor over the purple text "vulnerable to energy" it says "Energy Vulnerability makes a creature take 50% more damage". Anyway, thanks for the clarification.

This is the exact quote:

"The witch can make an enemies vulnerable to energy. This hex lasts for a number of rounds equal to the witch's level, during which any energy resistance or energy immunities on the target are suppressed. A successful Will save reduces this to just 1 round."

So to me it seems like going for resistance/immunity to normal damage is being made 'vulnerable.'

But I can see how it could be misleading.

The thing that was confusing was that in game they highlighted "vulnerable to energy" in purple, and if you scroll over it, the popup text would be "Energy Vulnerability makes a creature take 50% more damage to energy, etc". I don't see why they would have the text link to Energy Vulnerability if that has nothing to do with this ability and they were just using 'vulnerable' in the colloquial sense.

Because the text hyperlinks were not put in manually but by some scuffy automation. It's mostly been sanitised, but there's still some places where phrases such as "strength of magic" hyperlink to "what is ability score Strength" and similar issues.

Ahh that makes sense. Need to be a bit more discerning with the hyperlinks then~

Yeah, it's stupidly confusing and very unnecessarily so. But I guess Owlcat isn't competent enough to make things more clear or doesn't care enough about clarity for the player.
