Ughh the Voice "Acting"

It is really hard to get attached to these companions when every one of them sound as if they are voiced by the interns.

This game would be better with no VA honestly, the initial impression of the companions you get is always voiced and its been an instant turn off and I almost instantly dislike them based off of their voices (even though some of them have cool backstories, but i simply dont care because their voice grates at me) If youre gonna do it, do it right, or not at all.

Voice acting of companions is passable but not great, Daeren annoys me.

I find the spider girl to have the best voice acting so far. Only seen act 1 so far.

The paladin seems awful to me. Wanted to ditch her quicly , but lacking tank choices xD

Spider lady (was a choice between her and Lann and Lann's VA was instantly off putting), noble dude (i think the voice actor was going for suave but came across as mega gay) the paladin (her writing is bad to be fair to the VA) and the noble girl omg she might be the worst, oh and the actual player character has probably the second worst VA. I hear tale of an actual decent voice actor in this game, but have yet to run into that companion.

To be fair, the narrator for BG3 is the worst part of it, so makes sense.

The only voice actors that suck are Seelah, Minagho and Galfrey. The rest are fine, really. Daeran's voice isn't exactly a talented guy. He's very painfully obviously a straight white nerdy guy from a middle class suburb doing his best but failing to sound aristocratic and foppish. But he's at least sincerely trying and stretching out of his comfort zone, from the sound of it.

Seelah is just unredeemably bad. She literally sounds like she's gossiping with sassy girlfriends over lunch at the food court. Minagho apparently has the lung capacity of a toddler with covid because she's panting and wheezing into the microphone in between every word. Galfrey just sounds stilted like she didn't rehearse at all and just showed up at the recording studio after lunch with Seelah and rushed through the script in half an hour with one take.

Lann is great. Woljif just oozes charisma. Sosiel is actually soothing and lovely, really - major credit for a Russian studio creating a mature, masculine and sensitive gay male character and Lisa Stevens / Paizo for stipulating it in the licensing contract!. Even Camellia, who I don't like as a person, has a very subtle way of using inflection and tone to scream "I'm a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ sociopath who gets aroused only when I stab people" without raising her voice. Reggie's voice does a great job too.

Yeah, it could be better, I think a big part of it isn't the voice acting though, but the long ass paragraphs they're forced to read.

How often do you hear someone just go on a tirade like that inrl? It feels like I'm listening to a lecture.

I wouldn't say it's terrible, I'd just say owlcat is a bit inexperienced.

I mean, you can argue that modern art is good for all I care. I'll still say it's objectively piss poor art. Regardless of if you like it or not.

no, the narrator for that game is one of the biggest criticisms of it, its not needed. You wanna talk companions? lets compare Seelah to Shadowheart lmao, Larion knew where to hire (audio book narrators and popular british tv soaps) owlcat just sent out a PA to all staff and asked if they wanted a voice acting job.
