Is he suffering from a disease, a curse or something like that?

This has been happening to a bunch of my characters since Act 4. It would happen in camp sites with only the MC walking around. Suddenly I would get a prompt in the log saying "...suffered # wisdom drain from an unknown source." Huge pain in the ass when half your party has Wis as a main stat. The variable rolled is a 1d8 so I have no idea what can be causing it. If anything, buffs alone should be preventing any drain at all since they persist while in camp.

This kept happening to Wenduag on my playthrough, No idea where it came from or what caused it. Started in act 4 and persisted so long i just kinda forgot about it and tossed out a mass heal every time i entered an area to clear stat dmg.

This is (almost certainly) caused by a disease. In most cases, characters that are diseased can't fight it off on their own (it requires multiple, consecutive fortitude saves), and therefore suffer recurring ability damage. You can verify this by opening up the character sheet and looking at the "Conditions" area.

To fix a disease you need, as you might expect, "Cure Disease". Note, unlike the other condition fixing spells, this isn't an automatic success. Instead, a caster level check is made against the DC of the disease, and the disease is only cured if this check is made. The problem is that this is a hard check to make, so dozens of casts may be required.

I'm sure this is correct according to the P&P rules, but... It really sucks, since you don't have to do this with poisons (for example).

You do actually have to test your Caster Level with almost all cure spells, including Neutralize Poison. Delay Poison doesn't test your CL but that's because it doesn't cure the poison... The only one that I'm aware of that doesn't test your CL is Remove Blindness. Cleanse and Heal don't test your CL, but that's because they're high level spells and though they remove a lot of things they don't remove everything. Greater Restoration is the big mack daddy, but it's super expensive... and I don't think it removes curses, poisons or diseases!

Basically, you usually have to test your caster level to remove stuff.

So the disease is invisible? Ill go spam cure disease later and see what happens.

No... you should see a little icon next to the character portrait or in the character sheet. Similar to a buff.

Its not there, which is why im asking about the wisdom drain

It can happen if you retrained character with disease. Or any debuff really. Its icon disapears and becomes permanent. Had same for for some items that adds stats

Welp remove disease didn't work. Lann and Aru-something have died to Covid :/

On a side note, the revived Ember stopped suffering from WIS drain. Maybe we should just let them die.

You could try changing the difficulty setting to remove all negative effects on rest and try to see if that solves it for you.

This seems to have fixed it. Disease was invisible on the conditions but I was getting prompted with a Religion check each day for it about 5 times, even though it was affecting 3 characters (DC's getting progressively more difficult 40-50???). I don't know what disease it was supposed to be but I'm glad I didn't have to soak up all my resto scrolls.

I ended up letting the affected characters die from the Wisdom drain and used Resurrection Scrolls (added using Toybox because haha, not gonna lose thousands of gold from this) which seems to have cleared it for the moment. There was no apparent disease or other debuff icon on any of these characters, and none of them had been retrained using the ingame retrain option or Toybox.

This also started happening during Chapter 4 and may be related to a certain enemy type present in the chapter that has Wisdom draining abilities.
