Incubi Army - Help
I am new to the series and these kinds of games, and need help..

How do I defeat the "incubi army" after having pushed through "Leper's Smile"? The army leader just deletes big chunks of my units (his offensive spell/ability) to such a degree that a victory becomes too costly. Anyone have any good strats for this fight?

Thanks beforehand for the help! :)

I'd just avoid them for now, you don't need to kill 'em at this time by any means and it's easier to just capture Drezen, recruit more troops and improve your general so you can steamroll the demon army before their leader nukes your army too hard. Plus you'll be able to build hospitals to recover more of your casualties after battle.

Something to keep in mind, your party can sneak past demon armies (but not forts) if you really want to reach a location behind them but your armies aren't strong enough to clear the way yet.

Thank you for all the help and useful info! :D I'll keep that in mind and just skip that fight for now!

Ahh, so I can sneak past armies! That's super to know! Thx again!

As a general suggestion for those battles, if you can get a general that heals (magic users can get these), it makes them much easier.

I find the best strategy is just taking it easy, spread out the battles starting with the easiest and working up to the hardest. Waiting a few days inbetween can help as well as you can travel back to the city pick up some more units and eventually when you work through all the enemy armies by the time you get to the Incubi army you should have a phat Hellknight stack to wreck them quickly with. If you are taking the "take it easy" approach don't forget to space out the forts by about 10 days to keep the morale high. Taking more time means you get more money to spend on your army and more units to recruit. If you have a disastrous battle just reload, you want your army to just keep getting bigger. Choosing army leader skills that help heal or increase army size is best. If neither of those available then just whatever increases damage.

Thanks! Really helps to know how to properly plan forward! I have a warrior leader, but she has not gotten very good skills. Is there a smart way of rerolling leaders? Or do I just hire a new one?

Depends on the level if it is already levelled up a bit as far as I know all of them are viable. Just have to keep an eye out for the right skills. But if it only has a couple of levels could hire another one that starts with cure or extra army size. You'll probably want to put all your focus on the one general so it becomes a super general.

I found a way to beat it with relative ease and no losses after a few failed attempts.

Attempt #1:
I had a L6 army with 58 hellknights, 200 footmen, 130 archers and 35 clerics. My general has scorching ray and cure wounds. I could beat it with that list but the Incubi general slaughtered all my archers and a bunch of other troops.

Attempt #2
I then ran the battle with just my hellknights and the Incubi General slaughters them pretty well and I am only able to recover a few.

Attempt #3
It's a little cheesy, but I rebuilt my army to have the following
58 hellknights
1 archer
1 archer
1 archer

I spread them out so the hellknight stack is in the middle and the archers are spread out evenly on the back row.

Round 1:
I use scorching ray to kill an Incubi stack
The enemy general uses scorching ray to kill 1 stack of archers (1 unit)

Round 2:
I use scorching ray to kill an Incubi stack
The enemy general uses scorching ray to kill 1 stack of archers (1 unit)
The hellknights can charge and kill a stack of incubi

Round 3:
Same as round 2, but now I'm out of archers

Round 4:
The general blasts the hellknights and lose 7. This could be many more depending on your luck.
Decision time. Either use Cure Wounds to recover hellknights or if you are close to winning, you can blast another stack of incubi and attack again. If you took heavy losses of hellknights, cure wound is the best play. If you took fewer losses, you can recover these with your infirmary.

I ended up winning with losses of all 3 archers and 10 hellknights. All of these were recovered in the infirmary, resulting in no losses.

Just in case someone is new or still wondering about this.

Just Auto-Resolve battle and they flee if you have enough numbers (and you do not need many)

You can easily outheal the scorching ray as long as the entire unit stack targeted by it does not get instantly splattered. That fight is a battle of magical attrition.

I did it by outhealing this recent playthrough. Makes the battle take much longer since the general is healing and not scorching the enemy back. But it works.

And you get the flee option even without autoresolve currently. I never take it, but I get the option a lot.
