How to remove negative levels?
I am on chapter one and there are so many enemies with level drain that keep giving my party members negative levels. I have bought the 3 scrolls of restoration that you can get at the inn, but now the merchant is all out of scrolls and after an encounter with a succubus i noticed that one of my party members had gotten a permanent negative level after resting again.

How are you supposed to remove negative levels? I cannot find any NPCs that offers it and the people in the temple of desna have no dialogue options and does not offer restoration services either.

Do I just have to keep doing the main quest until I finally meet someone who can remove negative levels? If so, when does that happen?

I would prefer not having to load an old save and redo several encounters just because of a debuff, but at the same time I feel the game is hard enough on its own that I do not think I want to keep playing for hours with my only tank having a permanent negative level, making some of these already challenging encounters even harder

Most of the negative levels are temporary at that point and go away after a minute or so. You can also always enable the "negative effects go away after resting" setting in the difficulty settings and rest so it's all fixed again.

You can restore the temp ones with regular restoration or if it becomes permanent than a greater resto

That doesn't actually work, at least for me.

I tried many times. It removes ability drain but not the negative levels. Only tried normal though, not greater. Luckily I have the remove negative conditions on rest switched on though.

I have been affected by level drain multiple times and none of it has been temporary. It all says that it lasts for say 8 hours and then afterwards it becomes permanent every time. I have tried reloading saves before and it always became permanent.

Restoration is a level 4 spell is it not? I have been affected by level drain starting at lvl 3 and now my party is level 5. It's going to take a while for someone to learn a lvl 4 spell just to remove this and I surely hope you are not supposed to have to live with negative levels for entire chapters before being able to remove them. Is there really no NPC that can use restoration on my party before I manage to get my party to lvl 8?

Just buy Restoration Scrolls. You can use them straight from your inventory while at the inn as the cleric who sells you the scrolls reads them for you. Just keep in mind that normal Restoration will only remove one negative level per cast, so if you have more than a few on a single character, a greater Restoration scroll is probably cheaper.

You can use Restoration spell, potions. To remove both negative levels and hits at attributes.

It depends on what you got hit by. Some of them are just temporary level drains, some spells are temporary unless the character makes a failed safe later, some are just permanent. You need restoration or better to cure it. Deathward will prevent negative levels (but won't cure them if they're already there).

For temporary ones you can just wait it out, for the permanent ones you'll need to cure them. Or, like I suggested before, just change the difficulty settings so negative effects get removed upon rest.

As for restoration, Daeran can learn restoration, Sosiel probably can too? And clerics in the city might be able to help as well. Other than that I'm not sure.

I run a sorcerer and I also have restoration on Seelah, Sosiel, Cammila and main Character. I also craft the restorations potions at every rest. And buy restoration potions on the market. So I'm pretty prepared for the possibility of negative level drain and attribute damage.

Lesser Restoration will take care of attributes. I think you need Greater Restoration for levels.

However I don't have Greater so I just usually let it time out.

You can be proactive and use Death Ward to stop losing levels in the first place.

I removed myself drained levels with Restoration not Greater Restoration.

What level and does the OP have access to it yet?

The merchant only had 3 scrolls and I have used them all. The first area I went to after the maze were crawling with undead that ended up giving 3 of my party members permanent negative levels so I pretty much had to use all my early game gold on those scrolls

You can buy restoration scrolls at the merchant at any level.
But yeah, being careful and giving your tank death ward when you encounter enemies with level drain abilities is the better way.
Death ward is a level 4 spell, as is restoration.
If you don't have access to those yet, the best way is to focus everything you have on the level draining enemies and take them out before they can get a hit of.

Edit: You can also avoid all the shadows in the marked square until you are higher level and can hit them harder. You don't need to kill everything the first time you see it.
