How do I make crusade army stronger??

I was able to defeat some armies but some are too tough.
I have archers, footman, and cleric.
Do I skip time for a week to hire more of them? Or what should I do to make my army stronger? I am level 2 now.

There is not much to be done before you take Dresden. But try to do Regill quest, that will give you some Hellknights, and possibility of hiring Hellknights as mercenaries from recruitment window. They are really useful armored cavalry unit, especially when compared to most basic units.
Also some armies have high difficulty, because you're not supposed to beat them before Dresden.
Another thing - pay attention to generals with Master of Maneuver feat, it lets you increase max size of your army by 1 for every level of the feat. Having 4 troops instead of three right int the beginning is also big boost to power.

Download a mod to auto-win your crusade battles, because it's a terrible and not even half-baked system. Owlcat didn't even get 10% to where they wanted it to be so this is just a really bad mini-game that's being forced on us and you'll be a lot happier just bypassing it via cheats/mods.

its doable without cheats if your smart about it, I've done it on Core with no cheats at all or mods

Why bad tho? I'm actually enjoying this, much more than Kingdom Management from Kingmaker. If you get the gigs of it, fights get really easy. With some healing spells I'm able to beat armies with threat level 1-2 higher than mine with hardly any losses, and the few troops I lose, are brought back from infirmary

Doable and fun are 2 very different things.

Get a general with scorching ray or active abilities, makes some tough fights trivial. There are other generals that have bufs and passives but so far damage and healing spells are better almost all the time.
I'd also advise on only fighting with units that have generals assigend to them, troops do not gain XP for clearing enemies, but commanders do, so sending in an army without a commander is just wasting potential XP.

Get clerics with Smite Evil, Hellknights (or both) and gargoyles will go down quickly

Regardless at Act 3 you will have so much options like Hedge Knights on crit that can clear up large stacks easily.

Well I'm pretty sure I got them down by at least 3-4 per round? It was so long ago, that I don't remember clearly, but yeah, turn count easily went past 100. But hey, even if that one is a little longer, that doesn't mean it's hard.
