Help me understand the Mythic Trickster power: Knowledge: Arcana
I just reached the point I can pick a path and was skimming some summaries of what the paths offer. One of the entries under Mythic Trickster was:

Knowledge: Arcana 1 – Enhancement bonuses on equipment identified is increased by 1

Is that saying that every single magic item I find for the rest of the game will be an additional +1? Like, instead of a sword+2 I'll loot a sword+3? And would that also apply to named items found? That seems crazy strong, a massive power jump, and an easy way to bypass damage reductions.

It also seems stupidly strong when one of the other options is merely:
Lore: Nature 1 – Every rest, find a potion or scroll and enough food to cook a common meal

Gee, an extra +1 on every item my whole party equips for the rest of the game or free food? Hmm...
I feel like I must be misunderstanding what this bonus is granting.

That is interesting, once you identify something like +1 longsword you do not identify that item again no? Because you already know it. That is what I understand from the text. But you gotta test it yourself. Still it would be a better option then Nature one.

So...are you saying the first time I find a longsword +2 the game will give me a longsword +3, but the rest of the times I find a longsword +2 it'll stay a longsword+2?

Plus, presuming there's a fair number of named items yet to find given I'm only like 1/4 into the game, are those all considered unidentified when I pick them up?

That is what I understand from the text. I did not play Trickster yet so I cannot tell you in practice. Since the game is new, everything is still wild west currently.

But even if it only worked on identification, that is still a good one. Possibly someone more experienced in trickster path could chime in about that.

I'd also like to know, also does the main Trickster chracter need to be the one who identifies it or does it apply to whoever in the party?

I found a named item after I took the mythic feat Knowledge: Arcana and my main character was the character doing the skill check to identify it. The enhancement bonus on the item matches what the fextralife wiki entry says it has, so this feat appears to have no effect?...

edit: Wait, I just looked again in my inventory instead of in the log and it now shows both +3 and +2 enhancements on it. I guess it did apply a +3 to the item effects, but it left the +2 line and left the flavor text saying +2. So, this could be as strong as it sounds. I'll have to find some generic magic items now and see how they get handled.

It works like this:
First, it works only if you ID the item and not someone else. You must have the best skill in the party for this. Second, it works only when you pick something up for the first time. So if Nenio IDs it, there is no way to go back on that. And putting it down and picking it up doesn't change it.
If you find an item with a "+", it is increased by 1. But the name stays the same: the new glaive +2 is still named glaive +1 and sells as such, too. The only item that it did not work on was an amulet of natural armor for some reason.
A rank 2, a minor power is added. For weapons and armor that means the +1 and +2 bonus powers. The major power at rank 3 are the +3 and better powers.

There is a strange effect sometimes. You pick up a weapon +2, it gets +3 and the added power is "enhancement bonus +2", which turned out to be superfluous and not some stacking effect.

Ah, hmm, thanks. It's an awkward one, for sure. An extra +1 on all finds is pretty strong, but when it doesn't change item name, description, or sell price and only slaps on the extra property itll be a PITA to track what items are buffed.

Also, yeah, Nenio is going to be rough. My main is an int caster with max lore, so I'm safe when she's not around, but pretty sure she tops me due to autolevel skill picks and I'll have to be careful whenever doing her personal quests.

Most of the stuff you get is not of interest and can be sold away. But occasionally the gods of RNG grant you a really nice combo on one of the better items.

It does not matter who identifies the item in the log. All that matters is you have the trick selected.

I saw that level 2 with the adding a random power. Seem kind of like Diablo loot now, I hope to roll an awesome random bonus like Holy on a named weapon.

It appears it only counts enhancements as on weapons and armor. Rings of protection, amulets of natural armor, and cloaks of resistance are all not being boosted. I was assuming those were all going to be +1 bonuses as well.

This is incorrect. The effect works regardless of who identifies the item. Playing a 10 int warrior character with no points in arcana and Nenio as a constant party member, getting the bonuses on any magical item picked up and identified. Note that, as someone mentioned above, the name of the item doesn't change AND if you click on the item in the log after it's identified you won't see the bonus there. You need to go to your inventory and view the item from there. It also obviously won't work on items purchased from vendors as those are already identified.

Rank 1 also does work on amulets of natural armor, rings of protection, cloaks of resistance and stat belts, letting you have stat items with odd numbers. It also works on amulets of mighty fists. I cannot confirm yet whether it works on unique items that increment stats as those may be coded differently.

However! There's also an iffy interaction with items that can stack (most non-unique magic items in Wrath do, unlike Kingmaker) - if you unequip an item enhanced by a trickster and it gets added to a stack, it will lose the trickster bonus. So for people who are reporting their rings of protection etc. not getting the bonus - check that you don't have a stack of the item already present in your inventory as that might be what's breaking it. I'm not sure if the item modified by trickster gets added to the inventory as a separate instance, but I observed a case of having multiple basic +1 weapons with trickster bonuses, each being a separate stack in the inventory, get put into a single stack when trying to sell them, and the same thing seems to happen on unequip.

Ack, this is so confusing. You are right, my case with the prot ring, amulet, and cloak all stacked with a pretalent copy, so those could be explained by a bugged stacking. And I did check, sure enough a Belt of Physical Form +2 I just found is actually granting +3, despite not saying it anywhere on the item itself.
However, the quest reward ring of prot +4 and the cloak of resistance +3 (which has passed, but I thought showed as identified by me in the log) are both not upgraded.

I dont think it worked on the items that include an armor bonus either. For example the Ring of Chaotic Fascination counts as a +2 as well as granting the enchantment bonuses. It wasn't boosted to +3, I tried putting it on and was still only +2.

Does this work with uniques you create through crusade decrees?
