Constant Nature checks
I've noticed while moving around the campaign map that my characters spam Nature checks nonstop. They pass a lot, they fail a lot, and absolutely nothing happens. Is there some reason for this?

I'm wondering the same, maybe its how the roads split off and they can either find a route or not my guess, not real sure what it has to do with anything though

It is to determine random encounters. Nature checks are used to avoid random encounters. Just like when you trigger a random encounter, and you have a chance to evade. That is because you failed the roll to escape the random encounter all together, but you still rolled high enough to run away. When you have a random encounter that you cannot avoid, that means you failed both checks.

Fair enough, but wow, what a dumb thing to bother to show the player.

I wouldn't mind it being shown if the game had ever explained itself, or it went into the combat log with more info to provide some context about what's going on. Otherwise, yeah, it should be completely hidden.

You also do a nature check in order to see if your fatigued or not.

Fatigue is a nature check and not a fortitude check? That seems ... odd.

It's how good you are at wandering through the woods.
Fail and you walk through the bramble bushes instead of using a nice animal path. :D

Fatigue should be fort or constitution I thought.

Nature does help determine the weather as well I think. So if you enter a map at some point, it checks your last weather nature check to see if you're getting storms or the like.

Nature checks representing finding easier paths rather than taking the hard way as you trudge along, maybe? Thus conserving your energy.

Not seeing any nature checks listed here for Fatigue. Only fortitude and Wisdom, the latter being to avoid sanity damage from sleep deprivation.

"The core rules are somewhat vague on the requirements of resting and sleeping so the following is an extrapolation of existing rules combined with rules taken from d20srd.org combined with a bit of our own personal ideas. Use at your discretion."
