Mythic Mage Armor Feat Question
i was reading another thread and it was intimated that this will apply even if you apply said Mage Armor from a potion or scroll.

is this true? Because i'd skipped over taking it on my Knife Master/Vivisectionist because i had no way to cast it.

If this is true... since ill be taking the "potions act at your caster level" for Vivisectionist (and will have 15 levels of Viv), its all of a sudden much more attractive since i can buy Mage Armor pots by the bajillion.

Yes. It's a must have feat for everyone.

... uh, yeah, anyone not wearing heavy armor, at the very least (since it does not stack with Armor unlike in 3.0/3.5 (and even earlier version of 1.0 Pathfinder, IIRC, where it granted +4 enhancement to Armor and would stack on top of Armor as long as your armor wasn't better than +3 already)

You are right. Yet the mythic feat makes the mage armour so strong, it makes you question if wearing armour is nescessary. Anyroads, a huge boon for dex characters and spellcasters.

There's really no reason to use armor in this game, it's fairly easy to give +stats to your characters and have them drink a potion (it lasts 1 hour even then).
Mage armor gave armor bonus even in 3.0.

Since it will have 14 armor AC bonus, in a sense it will stack. Even full plates have 9 AC, and this is 5 better.

Yeah, it's strange asf that heavy armor is so weak in the game. Literally going in naked protects you more.

Dark souls reference?

I might misunderstood the question before, but I am assuming the stacking in question is whether when you have mage armour e.g. 6, and chest armour 9, they will not add up to 15.

A stronger mage armour would just override the armour class of the chest armour from my understanding and experience.

Mage armour certainly does not stack with armour in 3.5 or 3.0. It provides an armour bonus which is non-stackable from any sources.

You mean wearing 40kg of steel is less effective than the magical forcefield the god's chosen put on you?

Correct but at Mythic 10 its 14 Armor, so unless you get 14 total AC from armor, its better than wearing armor unless the armor has special abilities... and it should just overwrite that, anyway.

They just wont stack, so if you get 12 armor from your actual armor but it has resists you want or something, still wear it, youll just end up with the higher of the two -14 armor from Mage Armor - as your number.

Q: do the other caster-style feats (say, pertaining to duration - the one that makes your hour+ spells 24 hours, etc) ALSO apply to pots/scrolls? If so, that DEFINITELY makes it a no-brainer for Lann. Down a level 1 potion of Mage Armor, it lasts 24 hours and gives 14 armor.

Remind me not to go off on how innacruate most RPGs are on how much armor weights and encumbers people. As a re-enactor, it infuriates me.

MY strongest armor right now is the carapace at +14 ac.

At mythic rank 3, I Get +7 ac + dex, and if I take like scaled monk, + cha.

If I have an optimal defense build.

Belt of +4 dex.
Helm of +4 cha.
20 in dex and cha from that one tiefling subrace. (if I rem right) + 2 from levels. 22 in one.
26 dex would be +8 to ac
24 cha would be +7 to ac.

Monk shirt adds another +1 to ac.

That's what...37 ac without a shield and with out other feats?

I mean, naked dex builds in general are incredibly better than armor. Even without the feat.

There's also the thing, where real armor actually protects you unlike in most rpgs.
