Yes i do see that now, but there was still discrepancies here about whether it was Martial or Exotic, so its not ridiculous that one has questions about it when even on these forums the answers are varying due to details. Even if its clear to you, it can be missed to those grappling with the rules. One wrong misstep in leveling can put you at a serious disadvantage, so the questions are fair, and the "git gud" mentality needs to GTFO. Not necessarily directed at you, as you at least offered clear response. I appreciate it.
Similar, but has separate weapon focuses. And its a Martial weapon.
But its worth mentioning that if you want to keep using Warhammers, leaving the offhand empty (no shield, second weapon) will let you get a bigger damage bonus for strength & power attacks because you use it two handed. And you can always still use a shield in a pinch with normal bonuses. So a little more flexibility than an earthbreaker.
Its also worth mentioning that if you were hoping they were the same because its a bonus weapon for your background, that bonus doesn't stack with masterwork or magical bonuses anyway.
wait...what? o_O ....jfc.....
fascinating. How would this benefit over simply using the earthbreaker (or does it)? (stacking bonuses etc?)
Well like I mentioned two posts above. It just gives you versatility. You can wield a warhammer two handed for the damage bonus, or with a shield when you need more AC instead. In fact, in later editions of D&D weapons you can wield like that are literally classified as 'Versatile' weapons.
If you go Earthbreaker instead, you'll do an extra 1-4 damage more than using a Warhammer two handed. (2d6 base vs 1d8)
Plus you get the visual satisfaction of smacking someone with a bigass hammer in the face. :D
