the "only active party members receive xp" option seems almost broken; it should never be off by default!
just tested it in early act 1, killing a ferocious centipede gives 9 xp when it's off, and 54 xp when on. it's insane. i would assume the option means sharing xp only with the companions you've found so far, but it looks like it's all companions you'll ever possibly meet (i don't see any other explanation to why the difference is so huge). if so, it's a completely wrong way to do it. new companions should either be your level, or even better some fixed level (as it'll create a meta-gaming option to beeline to a high-level companion, for instance).

One give you the xp before all calculation and the other after. For example, with the option ON and with 3 party members, you should get 54/3 xp when you look in the character sheet.

That is odd cause when you get back to the camp or Drezen your other characters are also leveled to the level your companions are

hmm ok, looking at the actual xp changes on the character sheet, this checks out. but how come people claim one can get to level 3 in the shield maze with this option on? i had it off and after clearing the entire maze (before the boss battle) i only had 3k-something xp, and this shouldn't have mattered anyway since all companions were with me.

The very early checks and conversations will give a LOT more xp but we need to turn it back off before ''end of the conversation'' when someone is about to be recruited or they will have 0xp.

For example.

Start of the game: Option is ON

We are about to recruit Seelah, the mc is solo so he gonna get the whole 750xp + 250xp with only active party members receive xp. We need to turn it back off at ''end of the conversation'' or Seelah will have 0xp.

Turn it back ON

Conversation with Camellia 750xp/2. Back OFF at ''end of conversation'' for Camellia to have xp.

Back ON

Lann conversation, 750xp/3. Off at ''End of the conversation'' and everyone should be level 2 and already not far from from 3.

Back ON for the rest of the prologue. Turn it back OFF just before recruiting Woljif.

...............

Otherwise with the option OFF all those 750xp would be devised by 6 even if the mc is solo.

nice metagaming, but why does it work? if seelah joins the party after the xp is given, the option shouldn't matter, since when the xp is received my party has only one member anyway.

i also noticed that the option affects mercs: at the start of act 1 i was able to buy either 2 level 2 mercs for 2k each (with the option on), or 1 level 3 merc for 4.5k (considering i only had 5k). since merc price skyrockets pretty quickly with level (it's quadratic i think; level^2*500), at higher levels it's probably more realistic to buy a noob merc and quickly bring them up to speed (if you really want a merc).
