How bad is corruption?
Just wondering, as a spell caster I hate the resting mechanic to start with and now it seems you are punished everytime you rest making playing a caster even more of a pain. Getting tired of spamming cantrips.

After Act 1 does it get any better? Anyway to lower this damn corruption so I can actually play my class?

Is there anyway to lower it? All I could find was that by resting at base it doesn't increase
Resting at your base resets it completely.

It's basically just to prevent you from resting over and over out in the world without returning to camp.

As long as you return to camp and rest every few quests you will be fine, and have like 3-5 rests in the world before it's a problem. It's more than enough.

Never hit a single level of corruption on my playthrough. Suggestion is to build your mage character like a ranger at first, then respec him later when you get some levels. That way most of the fights are you just hitting with a heavy crossbow for trash mobs.
Very bad, once you hit the 2-3 mark, the 1 mark is basically minor but 2 and 3 I believe are the ones you have to look out for it shows in the bottom when you try and sleep the debuffs for each tier
If you rest at camp you clean or reduce your corruption, if i'm not mistaken.

I really can't say because i didn't hit any corruption level yet. On chapter two is really easy to go back to camp for rest and the mythic power for more spells make resting almost unnecessary. It also only affects arcane magic, so clerics and paladins are scott free of it.

Fantastic! Thank you for the answer! I thought it was like world corruption. Yeah 3-5 is fine, but was afraid to wrest encase it has severe long term impact. Thanks for the clarification.

There are two ways to lower it, One is resting in a safe zone, basically back at your camp most times. Second is during long story quests there is generally an object that is glowing that you click on twice and your character absorbs the light, apparently that lowers corruption.

Ah like the desecrated fountain in Grey Garrison?
I think so? I can't remember that was a while back for me. I never paid attention to them as I didn't rest often enough for corruption to be a factor in my playthrough.

I would also say that as a caster your power and amount of spells increases quite a bit. You can get the feat Abundant Spellcasting (I think? Abundant something) which gives you more slots, and you get slots from leveling up. Some items too I think. So you'll get more spells relatively quickly. You start out able to cast very few for sure
Yeah casters get better but the lower levels are horrible and in Pathfinder games they last way to long (imo). I play a sorc mainly and I am lvl 5 by lvl 2 of Grey Garrison, all side quests completed. So 99% of the combat is me using either xbow or cantrip, not fun gameplay at all.

Take some of the more modern D&D games like NWN 2 you were lvl 4 by end of prologue, they got rid of the boring lower levels quickly and then slowed down leveling, but by then at least as a caster I had some spells to use.

Anyways I know it won't change and just have to suck it up but doesn't mean I have to like it :)
Corruption has me only ever using ray of frost. Game sucks ♥♥♥♥.
If you want to be an element-thrower, a spellcaster is the wrong class for you! Try an elementrist instead! (You even get significat advantages, if you burn yourself.) I also play spellcaster (but more mage, mostly. I don'T realy like the limits a sorcerer has, be it later access to spells or fewer spells in the first place.) Until I discoverd the elementarist.
So I played as soec until Act 5, it was no problem (am OP btw) at all, in fact, for 90% of the game I probably had more spells than I could use thanks to Legendary Talents that improve the amount of spells you can cast (allies can take this as well!) added to the high amount of casts a sorc gets anyways.

Also corruption I found out resets once you rest in a normal place so it was never really a problem.

What base class is the elementalist Migromul? I think my next class with be a kinetisist personally, why mess around and just pick a class that casts firebolts as default!
You can also set the character with the most ranks of lore: religion to work to reduce the amount of corruption you gain per rest. As your characters level up and gain more ranks in lore: religion your party will become more resistant. Starting in Chapter 3 you can build teleporters and buildings that create safe zones throughout the lands, making it easy to rest in safe locations.
