How do you increase army's strength?
I just got to the world map, I've taken out a few 1 strength demon armies, but I know for a fact I won't get past the 2 strength demon army blocking the way to the Hell Knights.

There's a recruit UI button in the left corner of the screen that let's you hire more men and therefore increase the strentgh of your army

Or cheat because the whole crusade system, aside from the political stuff that is fun RP, is total jank and not worth your time. There is an auto-win mod on the nexus that works now, or you can edit your save files to give yourself a huge doomstack that eats all the demons.

Recruit and make sure to increase your income as much as possible so you can recruit more troops and when you can afford it start building the outposts so you can make more units. I don't suggest getting mercs since they cost too much for what they can do. More numbers = more damage. I have 105 hedge knights (you can choose to get these later via stables/story decisions) that will some times crit for 40k damage which is ridiculous and the hellknights I had could get no where near that amount of damage at 105 and they cost WAY more.

So just buying more and more units increases that "Army Strength" number on the overworld?

Yes. That is literally all this game is. Who has more boys. It is super watered down, time consuming filler.

It seems to me like you got to kill time until your army builds up.

The first three fights are easy then your army is too weak to take on anything else without getting half or more of your army slaughtered. This will just leave you in a hole.

So you just got to skip time for awhile because you can only hire so many troops per week.
