So in this zone i looted a body that had a magic item. A spectre comes out and says put it back or else. The item had no value to me so i put it back. NOw i'm being attacked by a random spectre on the map yelling about putting the whip back. I'm guessing this is a bug but it is annoying as f.

I have to say the reading comprehension of people in this forum is abysmal. A whole thread because some guy literally couldn’t read that the item slows you. It says that it slows you.

THREAD is about the fact that it's annoying there is no way to stop the spectre...nothing to do with slow...the comprehension of people who only read small bits of a thread and make wild trollish assumptions and comments thereon is, indeed, abysmal. More likely it's a case of bad manners than comprehension.

THREAD is about the fact that it's annoying there is no way to stop the spectre...nothing to do with slow...the comrehension of people who only read small bits of a thread is indeed abysmal

Actually the thread is about OP thinking it was a bug that the ghost would still attack them after they put the whip back, because they didn't notice that they looted it at area exit with 'loot all' option.

Good point Mr Hair Splitter. I still maintain there should be some way to lay the poor angry soul to rest and still get away with the goods without all this rigamarole. And the looting on exit is hardly relevant since..well you are leaving, will only encounter the spirit again if you return, and it wasn't mentioned in the original post but in a later comment.

Also I have no idea why you didn't just admit you simply missed the fact that the descripion said it slows you, and instead opted to do... whatever this is. It happens, sometimes you just miss something, that's righ there. It's called a 'brain fart' or as I like to call it 'temporary blindness'. No shame in that, just own up to it, say 'oh yea lol somehow I comletely missed it, my bad' and move on with your life. No need to backpedal like a child.

If you pick up the whip and put it back you shouldn't get attacked. When you leave the area it will then show up on the loot screen and you can take the whip from there. If you have freedom of movement you won't be slowed by the whip. There's boots that give you freedom of movement as a permanent effect.

freedom of movement or any other curse removal spell does nothing...nothing at all. As the last guy said, if it's toggled on you are slowed regardless.

It shows the slow effect applied, but you can see I still have a full action with Daeran. If I were to apply haste I would get the full effect instead of just countering slow. Not sure what the problem is other then it shows you have a slow effect, but it doesnt actually debuff you with FoM

Yeah but he moves around the map like a slug if the whip is in his belt. The obvious is just to take it off but then you waste a half turn to put it back on again during combat ...plus I didn't realise it can be toggled off, silly I know but there ya go. What I meant was FoM didn't remove the slow even temporarily outside of combat and I wasted a load of spells like greater rest, dispel enchantment, FoM etc trying to get rid of it..duh. Also weird that it DID disappear on safe rest but then came back as soon as I entered areas again so I didn't understand what was going on. Honestly don't see why it should slow you at all..physically it's just a whip

Kill the druid spectre 7 time and a quest will appear. Follow the spectre and listen to him. Or just put the whip back.

Oh very interesting! Good job finding this.

Confirmed that killing the spectres 7 times will not only get you 9.6k exp each, but also 3200xp talking to the spectre again at the end. The worst spectre is the fireball, spider swarm, summon wurm, and finger of death one. But doing these spectres are worth it, just need death wards to prevent the huge drain hits.

I ended up coming back and clearing it later on, xp wasn't worth as much but the fight is easier.

Yeah my original post was from Sept21 and the thing was giving no xp which was one of my complaints. Good to see that was fixed!

The Whip is hella bugged... my character has boots that give permanent Freedom of Movement AND he has Wings, and still the Whip applies its Slow effect, even though I should be 100% immune to it.
