If you want to play turn-based, you must build your characters without ignoring initiative. This means Improved Initiative and Mythic Improved Initiative at least on your casters and hexers (Camellia, Ember, Sosiel, Nenio).
You can trigger those ambushes without a party. Outside of turn based, you just run immediately back and use a vanish or invisible scroll.
Yeah welcome to Owl cats games my friend.
As someone who bought this game on release and played the hell outta kingmaker this is Owlcats MO.
They made WotR specifically with the intent that you are munchkin building your team. Balance in this, and kingmaker really did not/wont happen, until like 1 to 2 years after release.
Even king maker has an asinine amount of issues in it, and gets completely ruined by the final dungeon.
This is clearly a "you" problem. Put the difficulty down if you can't figure out how to cast remove fears and protect from energies.
For her Fear, having Seelah and spell where she grants her anti fear aura, really helps. Buying shirt that grants fire immunity also really helps.
The +morale against fear effects from the lvl1 spell is enough to deal with the fear effect. resist and protect against energy completely nullifies it's fire damage if you cast both. both are low level communal spells.
