But there is time limit, and givenwhat I read, if I took time to do 'pointless thing' like exploring, resting, sooner or later I will be punished because I wasted my time.
Hm. The shadows are a toughie. I was lucky and had found a magic glaive so my poor 2h-fighter lost 10 pts of strength but in the end they were dead.
If you have a channeler cleric, damage undead. Their saves are meh and they don't have many HP, 3 or 4 should be sufficient.
If you have a character with a high touch AC (monk, buffed alchemist, dex rogue etc.), send them in after drinking shield of faith or protection from evil potions, shadows merely have +4 to hit. AI is so dumb, they will not make a beeline for the full plate character but try to hit the AC20+ buffed monk or shielded Alchemist. :)
Magic missile and all elemental/force cantrips should do damage to them. Alas, you cannot debuff them at a low level since nearly all spells used for that are mind-affecting compulsions and they are immune against that.
Hm. Did not check if my bombs actually did damage, but since they do fire, I guess if you have alchemist fire, you can try that as well.
what
I'm talikng about the shadows, not rats.
Mind you, always check for spells that create a force effect for armor and shield bonuses or spells that give deflection bonus (no stacking tho). Those are also increasing your touch AC.
- Shield Spell (shield bonus)
- Mage Armor (armor bonus)
- Shield of Faith, Protection from Evil (deflection bonus)
Dodge bonuses always stack. Natural Armor does NOT help.
Usually, Monsters that target touch AC in early levels (and I say usually..:) ) have a low to-hit bonus. So buffing your touch AC to above 20 usually does the trick. If you cannot reach at least 20, you will be in danger though.
They are multiple shadows and Owlcat has simplified flanking, so your tank has "automatically" 2 AC less than he should have.
There is enough time to get to level 4-5 before the tavern defense. A lot of classes have magic weapon buffs. To get enough ac buff up your frontliners.
The shadows aren't actually that tough, they pretty much rely entirely on their weapon immunity for defence. If you can get around that they're pretty easy since they only have a small health pool. If you've got someone who can effectively tank them the rest of the party should have little trouble killing them; even if relying on cantrips.
With a decent fighter type you'll curbstomp any shadow you come up against.
I was able to defeat shadow.
But what trigger the tavern defense??
I rest twice as soon as was tired, I'm level 2 and Irabeth tell me theywill dieif I don't attack.
So I will have to fight lvl 5 monsters with a level 2 team with suboptimal equipment since Iwas litterally able to do the market zone only.
Could someone remind me how it is supposed to be fun?
