how do i use stealth in combat ? (turn based)......
ok so i saw on the trailer for the teirling you get from jail that he can sneak up on enemies and back stab while in stealth.........
(i even remember seeing him turn into a clear outline of his character)

but i cant figure out how to backstab or go into stealth at that =/...

ive tried the eyeball icon to "attempt stealth" but nothing happens
whenever try the eyeball on him to turn stealth so i can then backstab one of the enemies...

it doesn't do it anything....

starting to wonder if its even worth while improve my stealth stats if im going to be unable to use it =/....
on top of that... everytime i select my thief to attack it automatically starts combat and i lose any benefits i'd have got in the first place....
(my thief isn't going to last long when hes pretty much at a point where my shield user should be...,,,hell even having my rangers who cearly aren't in range of being detected cant get a "sneak/quick attack in)

Stealth is for initiating combat, during combat I don't think it viable to try to stealth. You still get your sneak attack bonus by attacking an enemy who is engaged with one of your party member.

I'll try to stealth in combat once I get back home.

oh im not talking about the attack of attack of opportunity

i mean literally "back stab" it even shows Woljif Jefto going stealth, running up behind the enemy and stabbing them in his trailer on the store page... but i cant do that when im fighting...

pretty much seems skills like weakening wound
(when making a "sneak attack" on an enemy)
or coup de grace is useless =/

it legit feels like it'd be more useless just to have an ranger, and amp up trickery instead =/....

<update>
take that back, managed to get a sneak attack to work,.... but had to do it before even going into combat..... and now... Woljif is stuck near 3 cultists =/
<ofc im not stupid im aware that making my presence known makes his aggro high as hell, kinda sucks that i cant have him run to safety before getting turned into bloody pile of mush>

<edit>
nevermind,,,, figured out how to get "sneak/backstab" during combat
...pretty much just have to bum rush my rogue behind who i want to backstab
(kinda completely cancels out the idea of a rogue ....but mah,,,,)

Attacking an enemy who is flanked gives you a sneak attack, this is different than an Attack of opportunity. So engage the enemies with you tank, then attack with the rogue, you'll get the benefices of sneal attacks. It works with ranged attacks too.

Edit: Also you don't need to be behind the enemy to sneak attack.

mmm,, looks about right, cheers bud.
(to bad i cant go "true rogue" and kill em that way lol, ill just have to figure out some way to get the rogue in and out before it gets its aggro amped up)

Just want to mention that the Assassin prestige class gets Hide in Plain Sight ability on higher levels which allows to "use stealth in combat".

I don't know your party composition but I use the turn before my rogue to position her and debilitate the enemy. My tank gets in position and when the enemies are either prone, asleep or otherwise disables I get my sneak attacks. Ember is a witch with the Sleep curse, extremely useful at the beginning of the game. Spells like Grease are too. You could also use the Luck Hex from Ember again, it gives attackers on that character a kind of disadvantage (roll twice, take the worse) giving your rogue more survivability on the front line.
