Mythic rank 4, what do I need to do to reach it?

I've been messing about in act 3, been to Wintersun and various others stuff but there doesn't seem to be any progression towards next mythic rank. Do I need to go to Ivory Sanctum or is there some other way to unlock rank 4 first?

I believe it depends on your path. For example, I'm an Azata and I had a quest that had me establish/name my own Court, then revisit the Court after two ingame weeks. Which led to me being teleported to a dungeon (not Ivory Sanctum) that had a plot item giving me Rank 4. At this point, I hadn't completed any of the other major world map quests.

Ah, dammit. I've been there, had to give up on it, that damn teleporting demon trashed my party so hard :(

I am confused about this too. I have been doing EVERY dungeon and area in Act III (I have the trickster path) and am still on Mythic 3. I kind of wonder if I am missing something, or if something is bugged? My character is about to hit L15 and I am still only Mythic 3. The only place I have still to do is the Molten Scar, which I am having a terrible time trying to find the path to.

EDIT LOL I finally found the path, under a demon army I hadn't cleared.

If you really had done everything, you would be rank 4 already, so you haven't :)

You get rank 4 in Areelu's old laboratory, which position gets unlocked sometimes during act 3. Azatas even get their private teleport to it. The trigger is a book in the central area, impossible to miss.

The quests in the mythic quest tab lead you there.

I think I see what happened in my case. Not sure if this was specific to the trickster path, but I had an option to crown some random fool a king, and the trickster path prompted me to do it. The problem was that there was the random wait for that event, then some long waits between the stages of that process, including a 14-day long decision to 'prepare the coronation'. In those 14+ days, (more like 30 total by the time all the random events in that quest line had fired) I had cleared basically the entirety of Act 3. Had I taken another route I suspect I could have shaved 14 days off the quest line. This was the quest that culminated in going to the laboratory.
