Spell Range (Close, Medium, Long) Issues
Anyone else confused/annoyed with spell ranges in this game.

Core Pathfinder 1e Rules state that short range is 30ft +5ft/2 levels. Medium is 100ft +10ft/level. Long is 400ft +40ft/lvl. Now, I understand that, for a game like this, you would want some level of control over how far away people are able to cast their spells, but to reduce ranges to flat numbers with no increase, and to reduce medium to 50ft totally breaks a number of spells.

For example, look at Stone Call. It is a medium range spell on tabletop that affects a 40 ft diameter (20ft radius). That means that you can select a point anywhere from 130ft (because it is a level 2 spell and thus you need to be at least level 3 to cast it) out for the spell to take effect. In essence, this spell can be, at the earliest level, at most 110 feet away from the wizard casting it. In the CRPG, medium is 50ft. That means that, even in the best case scenario, where you have enough room to cast this spell, you have to cast it at the extreme of the range of casting area in order to not affect the wizard casting it. Basically, the wizard has to be right up against the spell effect area. This just seems like a bad solution to a simple problem, or at least one that was not well thought out.

I get that they want to ensure that you can't cast spells across the map, but if that is the case, then reduce the radius of the spell effect to match it. Make it a 20ft diameter circle for Stone Call, not 40. Other spells are amazing to use right now, like create pit and its leveled up variants. I will check back in if I see more of these.
