Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous - Enhanced Edition

Oracles vs. cleric
When I played Kingmaker, I used cleric for channel positive energy for healing, and then bless for attack roll buff.
I haven't seen cleric in WotR yet, but I just met Oracle who can pretty much do the exact same thing. He can channel positive energy, and has bless, and their # per day increases w/ charisma.

Oracle sounds identical to cleric so far.

When do they become distinguishable?
I just remembered that the cleric in Kingmaker had heavy armor and shield. I am not sure if oracle can do the same.

Oracles also suffer a curse that inflicts them with a drawback, but also gives them bonuses.

Beyond that, an Oracle is to a Cleric what a Sorcerer is to a Wizard. Ostensibly the same, but trading versatility for extra abilities.

That's pretty much the end of this thread.

LOL...
well, I actually found some difference between wizard and sorceress.
Sorceress can spam magic like 8 times a day for level 1 spell if I have +5 on charisma.
Wizard can't spam anything because magic slots are limited.
My only complaing about the oracle is that it doesn't include ALL the curses, like the one that makes you blind, but at level 20 gives you 60ft truesight.

That isn't what you were asking and that isn't what he answered.

He said that oracles are to clerics as sorcerers are to wizards.

Clerics and wizards are prepared casters. They have to prepare their spells ahead of time.

Oracles and sorcerers are spontaneous casters. They can only know a limited selection of spells, but they can cast any combination of those spells they want, only needing to choose which one to cast at the moment that they begin casting.

Spontaneous casters usually end up being able to cast slightly more spells per days.

Prepared casters end up knowing many many different spells.

Oracle also reaches higher spell levels slower (similar to the Sorcerer).

It's a single level. It doesn't compound. You get SL2 at oracle / sorc level 4 instead of 3 like cleric / wizard does. SL5 at CL10 instead of CL9. And so forth.

I didn't say it compounds. But they do reach higher spell levels slower....thanks for the example?

Could you answer a question for me? Does a prepared caster have to prepare the same spell multiple times if they want to cast it multiple times? And if they prepare a spell but don't cast it, are they effectively wasting a spell slot?

Correct.

Prepared casters require more...uh....preparation. They are more verstatile as they can potentially know all the spells available, but require planning. Spontaneous casters are easier to use but they lack variety.

yes, you need to prepare a spell multiple times to cast it multiple times. What spells you prepared is what you will be able to cast until you rearange your spellbook and rest to have them available.

Wizards get their higher level spells faster at the cost of less spells per day. It rewards preparation because knowing which spell to cast and when can often be better then spamming spells. Such as stinking cloud shutting down a human mob and making them helpless over trying to kill them with damage and such

Clerics use Wisdom, that's a primary difference,
There's the curse too,

Unfortunately, Wrath doesn't have any divination spells. If players could cast a few important divinations like Clairvoyance or Scrying to scout ahead, that would make the school potentially useful. As it is, we rely on Stealth scouts to sneak and have a look and report back.

He can channel positive energy...

Which archetype is that? I was looking to make one of those but I didn't see it...
