This will make you good enough early game when you don't have many spells to cast and get you into late game where you probably won't need to use your ranged weapon much.

Camellia develops into a monster off-tank (although there other ways to play her). She has access to a hex called Iceplant which affords a straight passive +2AC. You can buy a trinket from the scroll merchant and Defenders Heart that improves Iceplant from +2AC to +4 AC. You also find a nice +2 medium mithril breastplate for her quite early. She has sky high DEX and gets a +6AC bonus from it so long as you pump her DEX at L4. These things can accelerate her AC past Seelah's. She is deadly with her rapier and has a bag of tricks to enable her to bypass various DR and protections found in monsters (the Sprit Hunter stuff basically). She can also do heals and has access to a number of spells from the cleric line (divine spells). Give thanks to Immodae she's on your side.
