How to Magus
How do I take advantage of the Magus' spell combat ability? I haven't been able to figure out how to cast a spell after I've attacked with a weapon, or vis versa. And how do i use spell strike.

I think if you have a weapon drawn and you have the spellstrike mode active, then when you cast the spell (a touch spell only) it will deliver this via your weapon. Well, that seems to be what happens :-) I'm playing a magus too, and find this a bit confusing...

So you would attack and do the spell damage (that certainly seems to be what happens).

I'd say it's confusing, the discription makes it sound like your duel wielding but instead of a weapon x weapon attack it's a weapon x spell attack, but the game doesn't tell you how to do this

His second hand must be empty or he cant do some of his stuff.

Can malus use a shield? If not, it is just one hand weapon fighter that occasionally uses magic weapon and the number of touch spell is limited so I think his use is limted.

Base Magus is rather meh. Sword Saint just like in Kingmaker is top tier damage dealer as well as a great tank.

And with the ludicrous amount of various types of DR, resistances and immunities the ability to morph your weapon at will to fight anything you face is extremely useful in Wrath.

they can use a shield but you take a casting penalty, magus' can wear light armor, at low levels, and heavy armor , at higher levels, without invoking a casting penalty, they are also supposed to be able to cast a spell and swing their sword on the same round, but i haven't been able to figure out how to do that

1-Hander, like Scimitar, Kukri, Rapier and Estoc are recommended. "Autocast" the ability to have attacks casting. There are still touch of fatigue even at cantrips to always benefit you. You can have metamagic to heighten the spells for specific elemental energy for fights to have them available to use for 20+ casts if needed.

You can't have anything in your off-hand, it needs to be empty. Make sure that the Spell Combat icon is activated, it'll have a little light moving around it, and then select a spell such as Touch of Fatigue and use it on a target. If your target is already in range then you'll use the spell and then attack. You can only move 5 feet and use spell combat in the same turn, that said 5 foot steps as they're called seem pretty busted and only work sometimes in my experience so it's best to use it when you're already standing next to your target.

This only works with "Touch" spells. For example if you're casting "Burning Hands" then you're also automatically swing a sword in the same turn. Atleast it used to work like that in the Kingmaker.

so that's it? just have it active and cast a spell ant a melee target?

It also works with personal spells like shield, but you have to click on an enemy after casting it, and you also have to be in melee.

i figured it out, you have to cast a spell 1st, then you can swing your sword, provided you haven't moved more than 5 ft
