Doubt it, mine was a level lower then my main when hired as well.
What If I level everyone except my main character? will I still be able to recruit level 1 mercs for 500g?
What is the price for mercs anyway? (formula) I know level 3 is 4500 and 4 is 8000
Even if you are you should be able to afford 4 mercs easily if you sell everything from the shield maze.

Install & Use
1.Install the Unity Mod Manager.
2.Install the mod using the Unity Mod Manager or extract the archive to your game's mod folder (e.g. '\Steam\steamapps\common\Pathfinder Second Adventure\Mods').
2.Start the game and load a save or start a new save (the mod's functions can't accessed from the main menu).
4.Open the Unity Mod Manager by pressing CTRL + F10.
Adjust the settings in the mod's menu
The Unity Mod Manager is here: https://www.nexusmods.com/site/mods/21/?tab=files
So run the Unity Mod Manager .exe. Choose WOTR and click install, no need to change the installation type. Then on the Mod tab, simply drag and drop the ToyBox zipped folder, no need to unzip or copy files. The Mod Manager can be mostly anywhere on your PC too. Then in the game juste press CTRL-F10 and it will pop a window with the mod, you have to click on it to expand the options. There is a box to write a number and then that number can be used near the Money section to add that number of gold, in my case it was 4500. The mod window also opens automatically when you start the game.
Also don't forget to scroll down and click Enable Achievement checkbox or else it disables achievements, no big deal but can be a pain if it is something important for you. This all of course come with the standard thingies about making backup and being careful, mostly everything about respec will cause problems down the line but adding money seems fine.
Have fun!
