Spies amids our Rank

I have trouble with the following quest "Spies amids our Rank".
I showed the cultist dispatch to the comander and visited the tower, there i meet the assassin that told me to warn irabeth about the attack on the shelter and that I should come back to the tower once all attacking forces have depleted.

My questlog clearly says "report to Irabeth" but when I talked to her I have no ption to report anything.
When I first returned to the shelter after visiting the tower we were immediatly assaulted and I started the defense, which btw was bugged the enemy hordes could not leave their spawn point which made especially the boss very easy.
Afterwards Irabeth talks to me about the succesfull defence but the quest log is not affected by it and no option to talk about the quest appears.

Did it bug out?

Yeah, I'm having the same issue... The quest log says to report back to Irabeth, but there's no option at all to talk to her about the tower :/

Ok I have loaded an older savefile that is before the first assault and now I can report the attack which progresses the quest.
So the first assault is the one we are warning of in said quest.

The problem is that if you fail to warn them the quest does neither progress or fail it just stays in an unfinishable state were you have to inform Irabeth but irabeth has no option to be informed as the event already happened.

so why warn them when the give you an interrupt anyways. The quest management is funny.

I had the same problem twice and third time found the solution. When waking up at Defenders Heart (after prologue) go to the tower first (after creating a path in the city in between). Just scout, no need to fight. Don't rest and don't do other quests and report back to Irabeth. Then you can do other things. Soon a messenger will inform you of the Tavern being attacked which you can do and after that all will be fine

The mistake I made was doing other things first and resting to much and time caught up to me

It seems the attack happens rougly after more than 3 days. So with resting taking between 24h and 48h if you do not pay attention to it, that attack is almost immediatly if you rest even twice.

I hate quests that become unfinishable like this. I did not go back to talk to her before the attack happened and now its stuck in the journal. It does not give you a warning thats going to happen. So if you stay out a couple of days doing other quests before returning...your screwed.

I mean that at least that part of the quest fails when the attack happens and we have not spoken with her is logicall.
But that wasn't even the quest. Exploring the tower and using the attack to reduce the guards should still be a thing and the quest needs to simply move on.

I'm going to start over. I'm only 8-9 hours in. I don't mind playing through again. There are some things I want to different anyway.
