Azata is probably the most versatile path for all classes, since the superpowers have something for everyone. And Aivu is a cute pet with sonic damage breath. I enjoyed the path and it's story events during the game. The spells it comes with were also useful (e.g. banish fatigue/exhaustion on whole party).
As I said, I tried lich, and I was pretty disappointed about some things:
- The undead pet is weak, but maybe that got fixed? One of the lich feats is to grant your pet spellcasting powers. With a stat of 10 it could not cast anything.
- The undead companions are not for me. The warpriest had WIS 10 and could not cast spells among other issues.
- I never became an undead. The lich had always another issue why he cannot turn me into one. So you are a lich only in name, until he (maybe) turns you into one.
There is also a healing issue. If you pick dhampir as race or the undead power source, you can get healed like an undead, but the normal healing from your party won't work on you. And likewise can your negative spells kill them. This is something to plan for and not insurmountable, but I found it tedious, especially after the undead companions were weaker than the live ones.
I tried trickster too, but I dislike the summoning spells very much....killer pony, small beer elemental and the rest... And you need decent skills to get something out of him. Probably best with bards or rogues. If you take it, your skills get extra effects, which were downright broken in the beta - maybe fixed, maybe not :)
And I have one more question, I am very new to pathfinder. As I play preservationist, I want to try going summons mostly, with augmented summoning. Are summoners in pathfinder? Is it worth investment?
the path you may want to go is the Monster Tactician subclass for the inquisitor. not only do lots of its class features stack with the various Mythic Paths,(Especially the Neutral Aeon) it works very well with high wisdom and dex stats, meaning if you take a level in monk(or monk-zenarcher subclass) you get very high AC for almost no cost. andit's whole schtick is taht all the Teamwork Feats in the game that normally require you to have two characters take, if the monster tactician takes them it applies to all their summons as well, and they get LOTS of summons.
