Has anyone managed to beat the Siege of Defender's Hearth?
The Minotaur has +9 axes and my plebeians are only level 3. With the infinite enemies flooding in and arsonists to also deal with I am having a real hard time with this one.

Mine are level 4 before even starting it. You can get level 5 if you been everywhere (it’s possible to do grey garrison before the attack)

Anyway you may need some scrolls if you level 3. Web, fireball, and prot from
Fire communal.

Embers sleep hex is your best friend and lann is the alchimst slayer put him on the wall.

It’ll be hard level 3 your meant to have gotten equipment from the surrounding areas.

Yes, it's not that hard, The arsonists are a pain in the ass, but otherwise not that hard. Be sure to have Daeran in your party for the heals
that fight was ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, owlcat games owes us an apology for that nonsense. that was not a combat appropriate for level 3 characters

When the minotaur got in, I retreated my ranged characters back to where the NPC crusaders were. Irabeth and the other NPCs basically tanked the guy while my melee fighters ran around killing the arsonists and other trash mobs.

I did the same, was pretty easy

I'm in the middle of it now. Killed the Minotaur without to much hassle (my party was level 4).
But dam am I over it... They just don't stop coming! The first few rounds were fun but it's insane for how long this has gone on for.
And the worst part is you can't even save mid battle!!! What kind of nonsense is that!
Er, anyway, i think doing something like what EvilDonut suggested would be helpful.
I think the Minotaru hit my party maybe once while it was alive.
Edit: Just finished the siege and it took me 27 rounds.

It's a wild battle but it's a lot of fun as well. I can imagine it really puts your party to the test though. I had to do it twice because my game crashed right at the end of the battle so the next time around I brought in a few more scrolls and prepared better spells. Battlefield control goes a very long way when there is actually a field to control. Create Pit was actually a kind of silly thing for the first gate. It wasn't perfect but it allowed me to kind of thin the herd and focus elsewhere. Keeping the ranged guys near the first gate alive helped as well.

I don't agree that it's inappropriate for a party of 3-5. You're given a pile of NPCs that you can keep alive fairly easily if you don't just let them hold the line (they won't) alone.

You need to stop think of yourself as the main line. Your party are special forces. Your job is take on alchimsts, demons, and the boss the npcs can easily take on everyone else.

Also remember you can recruit, hulrun and Ramin in the market square. The knights of the flame in black wing library and some other soldiers in the square

Level 4 daring difficulty it took me a bit of trial and error to find where to position. But in the end my prefered strategy was to put my meele fighters at the top of the wooden ramp near the wall, at the ladders and put all my ranged on the house to the left of it. From there my tanks soak damage with enough room for my healers to heal them from time to time (and some moderate potions ready in case of emergency ofc), while my archers can take down the arsonists that come from the gate fairly quickly.

Then when the minotaur comes i toss a grease at the stairs (he slips sometimes if rarely, at least in that fight) and have two ranged make a beeline for the roofs on the opposite side to take down the two arsonists the bull brought with him. After that I bring down the bull which has been busy being tanked by Seelah, and the other random adds.

I could probably have used more scrolls but im bit of a hoarder so its what it is.

Durning exploring you can find one arrow that deals 40 or 50 dmg, so you can like autokill minotaur. Most enemies are cannon fodder, you need to focus on arsonists. The way i did it was to buff two frontlines (with AC mostly) put them near main gate and put three other characters (two ranged, one melee) on the walls so you wont get overwhelmed later. After killing minotaur you basically use rest of the party (these on walls) to deal with arsonists.

After 20 minutes in turn-based mode and the enemies kept spawning I was wondering if it was bugged or not.

The minotaur himself I had no real issues with. Admittedsly, I stuck him in a pit while I finished off most of his support.

I had to do it twice , crashed after the first fight without saving. Sure it´s a annoying fight but not hard or impossible. Like other posted when mino comes i pulled back towards the entrance and picked off what i needed from there. Think some of the later army fights are more annoying tbh

I agree.

The developers seem constantly unaware of what the CR for a challenging encounter should be, especially at the lower levels. I scaled enemy damage down to minimum and it was still close. There's only so many healing spells I can cast at level 3 and the defenders are barely doing any work. Meanwhile, assault after assault keeps pouring in.

Web, Grease, and (Sickening) Entanglement make this fight significantly easier. Plug up chokepoints wherever the current stream of enemies are coming from. Irabeth suggests using spells that can slow the enemy ranks. Level 3 seems low for this fight.
