do i really have to roll fighter to use a longsword?
my fav classes are fighter and rogue, and for this game i wanted to use a longsword for my elf rogue character, but it scales with str which is not good for a dex rogue. i have read about weapons finesse/finesse training and if i am reading it correctly it would solve the damage issue, by making the weapon scale with dex for damage, but that dosnt solve the poor hit chance because my attack rolls will still be based off of str?

unless the description is wrong and it works for both attack and damage rolls? im not sure, anyone here know?

This game need Swash soon as possible or Weapon Training feat.
But, yes, Longsword does not goes well for Dex build. You can try Aldori sword, or finessable swords.

I can't remember if Longswords are Finesse weapons, but if they are and the rules are the same as Kingmaker you will need 2 Feats (someone can correct me if I'm wrong) to use the weapon effectively with Dex.

Weapon Finesse allows you to use your Dex for the attack rolls but not the damage rolls. For damage rolls you will also need Slashing Grace (for slashing weapons like the Longsword) or Fencing Grace (for piercing weapons like the Rapier).

Keep in mind that it has to have Finesse Weapon in the description in order for this to even work if I'm not mistaken.

Weapon Finesse adds dex to the attack roll, and Mythic Weapon Finesse adds dex to damage. The problem is that Weapon Finesse only works with light weapons, plus the dueling sword, and the elven curved blade. Longswords are not light and do not work with weapon finesse.
Sadly, longsword is NOT a finessable weapon. There are quite a few weapons that are, like the rapier, which also comes with insane critical modifiers.

You can learn the feat 'Slashing Grace' to make a longsword into a finesse weapon. However Slashing Grace only works one handed. Your offhand needs to be empty. But works pretty well if you want to go duelist.

The plus side is it will also give you damage bonus based on your dex.

Long Sword doesn't work with Finesse training. So, use Fighter. Also, think about Slayer. This class is some sort of Fighter/Rogue hybrid.
Sry for my english.

You CAN use longswords with finesse as a fighter, but its not a feat availble until lvl 9 through weapon training.

You're reading this right. Slashing Grace in Pathfinder on the tabletop was primarily added for the benefit of a class that isn't in the game (Swashbuckler), which explains the weird setup.

So they add weapon training after all. There is Advanced Weapon Training feat?
I'm not playing Fighter because there is many non-spellcaster character already.

To qualify for Slashing Grace you need: Dex 13 (shouldn't be a problem for you), weapon finesse, and weapon focus with the weapon in question. Longsword is specifically mentioned in the text for the feat.

so slashing grace wont work while dual wielding huh? and to clarify: if i take slashing grace and get the finesse weapons training, would that essentially make the longsword a "dex" weapon?

That doesnt work... Slashing grace is only damage, not attack rolls, you need fighter level 9 to make a longsword into a finesse weapon.
