Larian had other funding relationships to help with those costs, and Wasteland 3's full VO came in *after* they were purchased by Microsoft and received that gamedev blank check.
And PoE and Shadowrun sold sufficiently well for both their studios, as did Battletech in the case of HBS, another without full VO. Full VO isn't gold standard for these kinds of games, it's fool's gold.
Larian already stated that BG3 is an AAA product (it really is and that is great) This however is not.
Hearing voice acting allows me to have longer play time sessions.
To those who got upset and angry at the question, I feel sorry for you. You seriously took a question like I personally insulted your entire family tree down to the first cell that divided.
Oh my god, I am literally flabbergasted.
Anyway, not gonna take part in a flame war over a question. All I can say is get thicker skin. It was just a serious question and I can't help that a lot of reading gives me migraines.
Take care!
I thought your question was perfectly valid and reasonable; I just didn't agree with those who said all games should be fully voice acted. I am sorry to hear about the migraines though.
Many things can be the reason for that.
Are you playing in a well lit room?
Do you have good eye health? did you get it checked?
Do you remember to sit far away enough?
Do you own a proper monitor with high hz and good quality overall?
Do you remember to drink water?
Do you remember to take breaks every (atleast 1 hour in my opinion, often 30 mins is better)?
We can go on and on.. Voice acting, should not have much of an issue here, unless you have issues with your eyes, low quality monitor or play in the dark.
Often games have options to access easier reading (some have font sizes ie.
What happens when you read a normal book? do you get headacke as well?
I think that is pretty funny, considering the fact what cRPG´s is build upon.
It is like saying you don´t want to simulate driving a car in a driving game you bought, because then you rather drive your own car IRL...
