Protective Luck - Best Hex in the early game?
I've been playing table-top Pathfinder for a while, so I've been surprised at how good Protective Luck is in Wrath. Sure, it only lasts one round, but almost all enemies keep attacking the first party member they see when combat starts (usually Seelah, in the early game). So I've just had Camellia keep Protective Luck up on Seelah and the combats become much easier. Even the Large Water Elemental fight was a piece of cake (rolling twice and taking the worst result is a huge debuff and it applies to all enemies that round, not just one). If the AI was a bit smarter, it would shift targets once the hex made it start missing, but that would be a really good AI to figure that out in one round.

Against a bunch of enemies with different targets or enemies with spells, this hex will be much weaker, but in the Shield Maze, it's crazy good. Anyone else using it in the early game?

As mentioned elsewhere I went with Slumber, but deffinetely see your point. It seems very strong.

Slumber on autocast is the best hex whole game. You can use it every encounter on almost any enemy. Protective bangs for one round once per day are not that good, you may as well use protective spell, like mirror image

In real life table-top gaming we have stoped to use it. Boring/too broken.

I prefer Evil Eye as its more flexible. Reducing Saves can realy make Nasty spells stick

Also very solid, if you have set-up to take advantage of it.
Find few offensive casters in Prolog.
But if your main can cast Slumber ... ;o)

Few enemies are immune to Slumber, so there is that downside, giving a little to the Protective one.
I might retrain...
Protective has greater effect on bosses with high saves.

Few enemies are immune to Slumber? I can think of a few off the top of my head: Undead, Vermin, Constructs, Swarms, Oozes, and of course, elves/half-elves. Don't get me wrong, Slumber can make hard fights a walk in the park, but it tends to be an all-or-nothing hex (at least in table-top).

Well evil eye is more flexible as you can choose to lower saves by 2 or Attack by 2 or Armorclass by 2.

A Value of 2 means a 10% increase in chance. This is realy good as you have 1 ability and 3 different effects to choose from depending on enemy and situtation

Language problem. I wrote short for "A few/some enemies" not meaning "very few".
You are correct, they do exist. But Slumber works against the majority in a normal setting/campain.
Different if you played exclusively crypthunts ... here I expect a lot of outsiders...

IMO Protective Luck is far superior to any other hex in the game. It's sooo good at preventing damage. Also the AI isn't as dumb as in Kingmaker, they WILL rush your backline (unless something has changed since the beta). Also, make sure you enable "Additional Enemy Behaviors" in Difficulty setting. I think this is disabled by default.

Grease. Just saved me again. Tough fight, died twice. So I separated out two party members, split the enemy group, greased half of it and then the fight was easy.

As far as fun value goes. If my Triceratops can ever get a charge off on a mage or archer. Half the time its too fat to get in position, but when it does and the cackling mage goes flying, sometimes off a cliff edge. Fun times. Especially as I can call him my undead Triceratops pet (deathtouched) for use with the lich later.

I think it is hard because there are so many amazing hexes. Protective luck, evil eye, and slumber are all amazing. Cackle is great as well.
