What I am saying is that you can basically farm most of the first act with just the 4 party members who you get initially. Just when you recruit a new one, or a new one joins you, jump out of the conversation and turn the XP sharing Off, so that they inherit the exact same what you accumulated.
Very easy to level to 5 wayyyy before even assaulting the GGarrison
If you pop the bridge, Nenio will meet you eventually, so do everything before with 4. You hit lvl 2 at mongrels, if you keep the sharing on, except at the last moment where you get "End Conversation" you switch it off, so the new guys are at your level.
BTW these tips are from InEffect, I do not claim any credit for sharing this :)
After you have 5+ party members just keep it off, I have no idea if you can permanently just kill and evict people, and I would not advice that you try. Might just break the game :D
If you have it on and have 6 active members in party (they are traveling with you) you gain 1/6 of exp no matter the settings, and party members that are sitting in HQ are not getting any exp.
If i leave only active members get exp OFF, then all my comapions who are doing nothing in HQ will get xp right ? My question is: if my main party of 6 kills something and gets 6000 xp total so 1000 for each active member with the option on, how much will they get with it off ? Let's say if i have 6 companion who are doing nothing in hq, that means that all my 12 characters will receive 500 xp ?
No. XP works like this:
If you leave the default XP sharing on then all total XP awards are divided by 6 and that amount is given to each companion you have so far recruited no matter how many, not matter if they are currently in your party or not.
If you, turn on XP for party members only then only the members of your current party will receive any XP awards and those awards will be the total amount of XP divided by the number of characters currently in your party.
This means that:
a) if you decide to run a party of less than 6 characters, solo for instance, those characters will earn more XP faster if you turn the party XP only option on.
b) but if you plan to run a complete 6 character party then the characters will earn no more XP if you turn this option on than if you left it as default. Furthermore all characters not currently in the party will earn zero XP and fall behind.
Therefore, unless you plan to run a party of less than six, the is absolutely no advantage in turning this option on and in fact there is a significant disadvantage
Bottom line is that in the default mode all the companions you have recruited will level up at exactly the same time, they will stay in lock step with each other. The option to turn on party only XP is there purely for those who wish to play solo or with a reduced sized party so they level up faster. There is no other reason to use it. That is all it is there for. If you plan to run a full 6 companion party you should ignore this setting. You cannot use this setting to level up a full 6 companion party faster. By design.
As to gaming the system at the start when you have less than six companions anyway, there is actually no point really. The amount of XP you are talking about gaining is so small in the grand scheme of things it makes no material difference in the long run, even if it works. It's not worth it in case you forget to change it back (which would hurt you badly)
Perfect, that answered my question.
Yes, I want to play with a full party all the time so the option will always be OFF.
Thanks PEPE for the tip, I understand it now.
