[SPOILER]Why the forced moral grey choices?
This is only about 30 minutes in and already we have a moronic moral choice. I can either lie and deny that I have the sword(chaotic moral hit) or I can convince a bunch of impoverished villagers to go to to a dangerous place and probably die (somehow lawful?).

Where is the simple "Yes I have the sword but you will stay here." option? This is simply the author spitting on people who want to roleplay a character with good intentions.

When you have so little to prove your hatred of the game that you resort to moronic arguments like this.
"You will stay here" I'm not sure telling free people what to do with their lives is a morally good choice. Pretty sure that's the line of thinking of tyrants in fact, many of whom throughout history cloaked themselves with 'good intentions.' The lives of their kids are at stake and you're a stranger to them. Why the flying fliparoo do you think they should just place all their trust in you?

What? I love the game so far. I just don't understand why they have to write tripe like this though. Would you make either of these choices in real life? Only if you were a jerk or an idiot.

If they want to add moral grey then there are far better ways to do it.

Oh, the Bioware-style fake moral dilemmas.

A pity how common those things are in CRPGs.

Did you not get to this scene? It's not like you'd be telling them to stay there against their will. They don't want to follow you in the first place. You either convince them to follow you or you don't. The entire argument is that I would tell them NOT to trust in me.

wouldn't matter, you would have already inspired them, and you aren't their boss, seems pretty realsitic this isn't a choice.

Seems to me, like you are thinking in terms of Chaotic=Evil and Lawful=Good, but alignment in Pathfinder doessn't work like that.
You get the Chaotic or Lawful Alignment boost because you lie or tell the the truth, not because you do something that could be considered 'letting them run to their death' or 'taking away their choice' or anything along those lines.
That's not to say I like the axis alignment system, because I don't since it's flawed in many ways and promotes playing stereotypes.
I'm well past it actually. And it seems to me like Lann is the one doing the convincing, NOT you, one of their own, trying to convince them to do the right thing. Lann is also smart enough to suggest that your group, being stronger than the mongrels, should scout ahead while their forces gather, which you do. Your character would have no right or grounds to just tell them to ignore him and stay there. Your complaint is so very contrived.

You guys are over analyzing the example. I just want a choice that lets me say "I don't think you should follow me.". I don't care whether they listen or not.

Over analyzing? No, we're just pointing out why we think your complaint is invalid. If you don't like the idea of people disagreeing with you then maybe don't post to public forums. I suggest sticking to places where everyone is the same and forever echo the same opinions over and over and over again so they never have to be perturbed by something as horrifying as someone disagreeing with them.

I am hoping to have all of the benefits of a Lawful Good Angel / Paladin / Cleric type of character who can smite demons with ease but at the same time make all of the evil choices that I wish whenever I wish (stealing, killing, visiting brothels -actually nothing evil about that but some seem to think so - and I mostly care about being powerful)
Just purchased the game and need to wait for several hours for the download. Should be ready by the time I get off work :) Very excited!
I don't really fit in any sort of box so hopefully I can just do whatever I feel like doing whenever I feel like doing it and even kill NPCs if I feel like it. I am hoping for a truly open world free choice experience as much as possible.

That's fair. Some of the choices (or the lack thereof) in Kingmaker I found quite aggravating.

And then you would complain about 'My choice does not affect anything!'
They just removed this part and left only ones that would have real effect
Even though if you read dialogs you could have some understanding about who are those people and what they do/want/etc. and then such ideas would not even come out in the first place :)

do keep in mind that A) this is an adventure path, and B) this is a video game, they're going to be far more on rails then the PNP, and the PNP itself tends to be on rails for AP's

Wow, just ... wow.
Why the sudden hate? When became clarifying what you mean a bad thing?
