Paladin Main Character
A Paladin fits the theme of the game perfectly, however one of your first companions is a paladin as well. What are your thoughts on a paladin as main character in this context? It is an interesting option story wise, a duo of holy champions joining forces on a crusade, synergy-wise two paladins is far from an optiomal choice for a group.

Paladin definately suits the theme. I plan to play a paladin as well. Sheelah being a paladin is not an issue however. You can for example go Martyr ( paladin bard ) while sheelah remains pure paladin . Some peopel recommend to make Sheelah a bard but personally I find it immersion breaking
I reckon an angel paladin is probably the most 'fitting' for the concept of the game.

However, as it's a CRPG, play whatever the hell you want, lol.

You don't have to keep the paladin NPC, so there's no problems with you creating your own paladin.

charisma based character is always my main since its also good for rp

You could have a different god or archetype than her to help differentiate but unfortunately some of their abilities won't stack but it could help when having to spread your characters out. But it would give you two tough beatsticks throwing smite around for days.

There are more companions than active group slots, so if you don't like another one with your talents, use other companions that better fit the roles you need.

There's also this. My first game in KM I dropped Reg like a hot potato.

Reg is more like a schock-potato tbh

I usually play paladin's myself, but I had same concerns so I settled to play cleric this time around instead. Crusader subtype to be exact and it fits the theme perfectly as well. If you plan to go Angel mythic path(which also fits theme most imo) than cleric synergises better with it because you can combine spellbooks. Mind you that there is also a cleric companion, but this way I would not have to feel obliged to drag him along in every comp because I always need a healer...

Wouldn't any cleric fit pretty well too? There's even a crusader version for you to go crusading with :P

Ha, true enough. But I was going to be the only shock-potato in my group!

Unless you count Val spinning her sword around to intimidate and fear everything as shock too, but that's another kind.

I'm probably planning to go Angel Paladin for my first playthrough too, regardless of there being a pregenerated companion Paladin. Heck, why not use the mercenary system to make a whole party of Paladins! Let's get the anti-Demon crusade going right!

I'd like to play Paladin too but isn't it too alignement restricted ? Lawfull Good can be sometimes very.... stupid :p I'm more a Neutral Good guy.

There is only one thing holding me back from this idea, lack of a decent spotter&lockpicker :) somebody has to do the dirty job after all
