Charisma based character

Hi everyone !

I'm currently wondering myself about the main character I want to do. So many possibilities ! It's incredible ahah Like the real Pathfinder :p

I think I want to do a charisma-based character. I like the idea of a charismatic army commander who leads his troops to victory ! Plus it's usefull in dialogues.
But I don't really know what class could be cool to play with this. Paladin ? Could be cool for RP and all but I'm limited to Lawfull Good so idk. I played an Aldori Swordmaster / Duellist charisma based build in Kingmaker (basically a tank with Charisma) but I think I'd like to try something else this time. What are you thinking about this ? If you want to cast (and not get hit in the face) and swing something, magus is your friend, my friend. They can get pretty high AC too.

I mean that skald has Inspired Rage which made casters unable to cast a spell. Well from what I understood from the buff I mean. And -1 AC is not quite good imo.

And Magus well... I'd love to but I heard that it's a very complex class with a lot of micro management so I'm afraid to find it too difficult. I can always try for sure but that mean I'll have to get another bard from one of my companions (multiclassing so)

There ability on characters "accept inspire rage", you can toggle it off/on

Has anyone tried Dirge Bard out to their Animate Dead song? Does it require bodies or is it just a summon? Latter could be pretty great w Lingering Song.

eldritch scions sounds like a good idea, but i haven't played it myself. i do know how to make a good melee sorcerer though! start with a level in dragon fist monk, then go dragon blood sorcerer, finally go dragon disciple.

dragon fist monk is a charisma based monk, you can put a few levels into it if you want to be more punchy

dragon sorcerer fits thematically, is a charisma caster and has some boosts as you go through it.

dragon disciple is the prestige you want for a physical sorcerer though, it gives strength boosts, con boosts, and ac boosts while raising your sorcerer level for the purpose of magic and bloodline stuff.

Or just go hellknight signifier, I don't know if this class works properly, but only 5% arcane spell failure in heavy armor is certainly a thing and worth it

Magus is a little complex to play. If you were comfortable using Regongar in Kingmaker you should be alright, but yeah it's not a simple class (strong though). If you want something less complex you can use Bloodrager, also a class that wants Strength/Charisma: buff up with your spells, Rage out, and charge into battle. You can do more, but that alone is pretty effective.

Both of those classes are light on skills though, since you'll be ignoring/cannibalizing your Int for other stats. Frontline Bard can work, but you'll want to multi-class, either with Fighter to get some of their proficiencies in weapons/armor or maybe Scaled Fist Monk if you wanna make a Dex dodge build. That's basically a bootleg Magus though, so the simplest thing would be to go Bard with some Fighter levels. Take as many as you think you'll need/how ever many rewards look good.

A frontliner Bard/Fighter probably won't be the first to engage. You'll probably want stats in Strength, Dex, Int, Con, and Charisma, so you'll be stretched a little thin (you could try a Dex build and ignore Strength, though it's more complicated). Most Bards just use crossbows from the back while rocking out, but they can be made to work on the front line. You can give them a reach weapon, like a Spear, Fauchard, or Glaive so they're never directly in range (though close enough to reach if an enemy breaks off your tank). But yeah. You've got a lot of options.

I hope you enjoy this! Screwing around with a character is half the fun here. And if it ever doesn't work out, you can respec with a NPC in the game (just make sure to turn that option on in the menu)

Yes I enjoy a lot ! On a tabletop RPG it can be boring sometimes but here the character creator is so damn well done, I'm even more impressed than when I started Kingmaker a year ago. The system is soooo complex and yet the UI is clear, lisible and everything is well explained if you read all the text. Congrats Owlcat !

Concerning my build, I think I'm gonna try a Magus :D But... not a Charisma based one XD
Sword Saint looks really great, I realized that's the type of character I want to play (reminds me of a certain Sekiro character lol).
I hope I'll enjoy playing it dispite its complexity.
My only concern is about Perception, which is very low because it's not a Class Skill (I have 0 in Perception...)
But yeah 8/19/12/17/12/10 for an Elf pure Sword Saint Rapier Dex seems good for a normal mode :) what do you think about it ?
I'll have to find another Bard I guess. My pala companion could be one but I need a tank too so idk
