I really disliked it when my characters had level ups at different time or where falling behind while companions magicaly always ahd the same xp as the MC.
Using 3rd party program is always risky.
In kingmaker the merc matches, or is within 1 level of the player character.
There is no reason to think it will be different in WotR.
I really enjoy thematically correct groups, ie - all holy priests, paladins, war priests etc - a random hodepoge of different classes the game gives you don't fit well for me ascetically.
It would be cool if you had a mod that could place the personality of a companion onto a merc, so as to get the best of both worlds.
So many interesting builds but I can never play through 100s of times.
He means giving the personality / dialogue / personal quests etc from a premade character to a custom made character, which I must say is a brilliant idea!
Then we'd no longer lose out on any story/content when using selfmade parties.
that would indeed, be a simple way around a big problem in many CPRGs! :)
As an aside, "rolls"...that's one thing I really don't like about some of the D&D CRPGs as they have removed rolling ot make characters, I understand why they might do it, so encounters are tailored
but, they are BAD for immersion!
rolling dice makes me care much more for my characters
on your actual point:
well, i always try and fill all roles especially for puzzles and diplomacy etc ;)
my fave all over group composition in Kingmaker, and one that filled my enjoyment of D&D was
Aasimar Paladin, uber tough tank, this is even more usefl in new game I'd think with their group smite evil
a damage dealer, some play thorough I went dexterity monk, extremely survivable and useful scout, I love scouting and planning ambushes ;)
Or, a dwarf two hand weapon user, damn could they cleave entire groups like a Cuisinart lol
me like dwarves ;)
Linzi, bards are perfect for many things, very under valued class and Linzi was a fun companion :)
My main character, usually a wizard, I also like warlocks but alas not in the game
and I disagree about how warlocks are portrayed/used in D&D sigh
Elven cleric, with bow, LG deity forget name, hearth/community, superb blend of having a pet and the guardian hearth power
half elf ranger, superb Perception, again scouting plus ranged DPS
and as said that's a group I can see and like in D&D :)
Wich is what he answer. Take the premade NPC and customise it to what you want with a mod. I did it in KM and it worked very well. The only real limitation is gender beause of text reference but everything else is game.
yes but you can cheat to make them 25 instead of 20.
to fix the "1 level behind" issue what you have to do is hire them as soon as you level up and then you'll only be ahead by a very small ammount of xp which should normalize later on.
that, or just cheat xp and fix it even quicker.
well we can hope a cheat editor is out soon then! :)
